Boycott & Help Disband Salvation Army

Let The Federal Executive Branch, Federal Legislative Branch, Federal Judicial Branch & State Local & Tribal Governments know that you want a mandate issued for the dissolution of The Salvation Army and its Affiliates. Tell them we will NOT ALLOW racist, bigoted, embezzling ANTI HUMAN RIGHTS groups to pretend to help those in need in this country while they lie to and deceive us to line their own pockets and push their private agendas!

There is a wide array of reasons why people should boycott Salvation Army but allow me to touch on a few reasons here today:

In the beginning, the Salvation Army was about personal salvation. As General William Booth's understanding grew, that salvation took on personal, social, and eschatological dimensions. "Salvation from pinching poverty, from rags and misery, must be offered to ALL," he wrote.

My Personal Experience

During the floods caused by Hurricane Ivan our family was devastated. We live in an area within the designated emergency zone and have been declared by FEMA a legitimate flood disaster victim. Salvation Army returned a contact call made to them for assistance and directed us over 50 miles from our home to receive assistance. After arriving with proof and all the requested documentation we were turned away because my husband is African-American! Even a local TV station taking donations from African-Americans to give to Salvation Army lied to us and said they would straighten things out, but WPXI just the injustice go forward. My husband was accused of being a liar, a leech, and Salvation Army even tried to say the town in which we live didn’t even really exist! Glad to know there is help out there when we need it. I am also oh so happy that money taken from African-American Families is NOT going to help African-Americans in need. What a great “Christian” messages they are sending!

Salvation Army is ANTI Christian Values of Morality & Equality

Recent fundraising letter sent by the Salvation Army had a separate card with the bold headline: "Equality.". It reads "We at The Salvation Army, want you, our cherished donor, to know that we are all about equality in the workplace. We employ qualified applicants, regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or political views." Talk about telling a whopper. Did they offer assistance to African-American Families and change their policies on racism? Did they change their National Policy blocking their territories from offering insurance benefits to their employees gay, lesbian and unmarried partners and didn't tell anyone? Maybe Salvation Army should stop spending so much money lying and a little more helping!

Back Door Funding

Early in 2001, news leaked that the Salvation Army had asked the Bush administration to relieve it from anti-discrimination rules in order to be eligible for funds from the president’s “faith-based” initiative. Their concern was that they would have to treat gay people equally in order to receive money. Their wish was granted. Even if you are against Gay/Lesbian Rights you must admit that this is a sneaky way to avoid following policies that are meant to be followed by all and misdirect funds.

Not Enough? How About This

A mile away from a popular shopping mall in Santa Monica where millions of donations are collected every year for the Salvation Army workers put the finishing touches on new Salvation Army housing worth at least $1 million. This place won't shelter the homeless, however. Boasting a marble hearth, a built-in family-room entertainment center and a view of the ocean, the two-story hillside structure will be the residence of the Salvation Army's Santa Monica captain. Officials spent nearly a year replacing an older house with a new one with a tile roof, cut-glass entry doors and extensive new landscaping. Now I ask again, is this not a gross misallocation of funds?

The Salvation Army Supports Terrorists Not Our Troops

El-Faisal was born Trevor William Forest to a Salvation Army family of practicing Christians. But he converted to Islam at 16 and moved to Saudi Arabia where he is believed to have spent eight years. He took a degree in Islamic Studies in the Saudi capital of Riyadh before coming to England. Here he attended Brixton Mosque, in south London - the same mosque where shoebomber Richard Reid is thought to have met Zacharias Moussaoui, the alleged "20th hijacker" in the 11 September attacks. Reid was jailed for life in January in the US for attempting to blow up a transatlantic jet with explosives in his shoes.

What Does Salvation Army Do Again?

A Salvation Army shelter in Louisville, KY is now charging families five bucks a week to stay the night. Are you kidding? That would require an income of 5 dollars, where do they want that money to come from? At what point did the poor/homeless become sub-human? Look at your own parents/siblings/children-would they "deserve" that sort of treatment if circumstances were different? Do they too bear the potential to become sub-human should their wage earning ability suddenly disappear? Poverty ought not exclude one from human dignity, intrinsic worth. It is difficult enough to get this message across to American society without organizations claiming to help the poor reinforcing stereotypes that encourage anger and hostility towards our most vulnerable citizens. Stigmatizing them certainly cannot be of much help.

Bordering on the Ridicules

Upon researching injustices put forth by the Salvation Army I learned that the Salvation Army banned yoga classes at their facilities labeling it as 'anti-Christian'.

Last Word

No one is denying the Salvation Army the right to their religious convictions. However, neither the Salvation Army, nor anyone else, has a right to be free of all consequences for their decisions and actions.
