8 Month Old PITBULL BRUTALLY SHOT BY POLICE!

my 8 month pitbull and his father(a rescue pitbull from an abusive home), jumped the fence in my back yard. after looking for them for about 3 hours i come across a cop car thathat had my two dogs laying shot dead next to their patrol car. when i had asked what happened, the cops told me a child was attacked. i asked to see the child and if he was alright, the kid apparently had a small scratch on his forehead and was not taken to the hospital. i was told to leave the scene, and given no information from any officers including the police chief(who was very rude, and dared me to take action). i was also told that my dogs bodies were at the humane society and i was not allowed, nor will i be allowed to have the bodies. later in the evening i called the station looking for more questions, and this time i was told by the police, that " they were approaching us in a viscious way" and that is why they were shot. WHY THE TWO DIFFERENT STORIES, WHY WAS SHOOTING THEM TO DEATH THEIR ONLY RESORT?
--UPDATE 3/28
so my story made the news tonight. they had reported the "victim's story that the child's head was in the mouth of my dog. HE WAS AN 8 MONTH OLD PUPPY! i find that statement right there to be extremely hard to believe. and even if that was the case how did he get his head out? also repoted was the cops side(this is the 3rd story i am hearing) reported, and he said he showed up on the scene and the dogs "charged" the cop, so he shot them both? also reported was the family is too shook up to talk about it. SO WHY AM I NOT BEING CONTACTED? I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO SHARE MY SIDE! WHY DIDN'T THAT COP USE MACE? OR JUST GET BACK IN THE CAR, OR USE A TASER? MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP POLICE, NEWMANSTOWN, LEBANON, PA. I WANT ANSWERS, AND I WANT JUSTICE!!!!!
