This weekend in Baltimore, 3 men were cat sitting for a neighbor. After getting drunk they began to torture the cat named Diamond. They put her in the microwave, the clothes dryer, the freezer, and then they drowned her. Under Maryland law this crime is only punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a 1,000 fine. This is not enough for this heinous crime. As long as we continue to give the people a slap on the wrist they will keep doing it. The owners of the cat have lost a beloved pet and their trust for humanity. This is a disgusting dipaly of how the law allows these things to go on. Please sign my petition to the Maryland state officials and to make this offense a mandatory sentence of at least 2 years. These horrible people need to recv more punishment than 90 days! That is appalling after what they did to this innocent animal. If they would do this to a helpless animal, think what they could think they could get away with on a child. 90 days? I think that people who abuse and/or kill animals should be sent to prison for a few years at least. These people didn't get a speeding ticket, they tortured and murdered a helpless cat!! Society and law mustn't be lenient towards those who harm animals. They matter too....
