Indigent Citizens' Dog and Cat Spay Neuter Program

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) established the Indigent Citizens%u2019 Dog and Cat Spay/Neuter Program as a valuable incentive to encourage the sterilization of dogs and cats owned by residents of this county in order to reduce the number of animals going into Animal Services. After passage in 2003, the program finally achieved the target of a minimum of 5 surgeries per 1000 of human population in 2009. 2010 saw 7 surgeries per 1000 of human population achieved, with a concurrent reduction of intake and subsequent euthanasia of 15% in a one year period. Unfortunately, this program, currently funded by the differential in tag licensing fees will run out of funding in mid 2011. This program is critical to the continued reduction of intake at Hillsborough County Animal Services. Help us help our companion animals by signing this petition to the Board of County Commissioners to continue funding this valuable program to lower the intake and subsequent euthanasia of animals at our county shelter.  Thank you!
We the undersigned ask that the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners continue and fund the the Indigent Citizens' Dog and Cat Spay Neuter Program.
