Alberta Referendum Electoral Reform proportional representation vote election majority minority

Referendum on electoral Reform for Alberta

Target:
to have a vote on reforming the electoral system, for a more balanced Albertar a more balbabalanced Government
Sponsored by:

On March 3, 2008 Albertans cast their ballots in the provincial election. On that day 43% of the vote did not count. The ballots were rendered useless. The Ruling Conservative Party managed to widen their reach even further, winning 87% of the seats in the legislative assembly. The thing is though; the Conservative Party only received 53% of Albertans%u2019 votes. It%u2019s no wonder people do not go out and vote any more. This just proves that your vote does not matter in the current system that we use.

Your Vote Can Matter though, If we join together to create a Referendum on Electoral Reform. It is time for All Albertans to have a voice in the legislative system. The current system does not hold the government accountable for their actions, and does not represent the true will of the people of this province.

We the undersigned are calling on the Alberta Government to hold a public consultation on creating a system of voting that will allow for a more proportional representation of the votes cast by Albertans. After this consultation with the public the Government will call a referendum, so Albertans can choose which voting System they want for Alberta.

There were way too many problems with this election that I would like to see investigated further.

The man elected in my riding was elected by less than a percent. If some of the vote didn't count, I wonder how much he would have lost by?
