Call For Andrea Young's Resignation -Chief Executive, Oxfordshire PCT

Target:
Andrea Young - Oxfordshire PCT

Oxfordshire's Primary Care Trust is actively discriminating against the county's residents, in contravention of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence guidelines laid out in 2004. While other parts of the country can enjoy a healthcare service that is open to all, Oxfordshire's PCT is repeatedly denying treatment to those that need it, based on age, place of residence, sexuality, etc. In any other field of work, this would be utterly unacceptable -- and the time has come to tell the PCT, and its Chief Executive Andrea Young, that such discriminatory behaviour will no longer be tolerated.

Oxfordshire cancer sufferers have in the past been refused the necessary drugs, Oxfordshire couples are being turned down for NHS-funded IVF cycles, Oxfordshire gender-reassignment surgery is being denied, Oxfordshire residents that have a condition that may make them go blind (wet AMD) are not getting the drugs that could save their sight -- all within a county in which its residents pay some of the highest taxes in the UK. It is not fair, nor is it right, that people should be denied this kind of healthcare based on where they live, and it seems that Oxfordshire taxpayers are not receiving the treatment that they themselves are funding. The NHS should be for everybody, not just select parts of Britain. Something has to change at the Oxfordshire PCT, and we believe change has to start at the top.

If you believe that Andrea Young should resign her position at Oxfordshire PCT so that somebody more proactive can take over then please show your support by signing the petition below.

Petition:

We the undersigned believe in an NHS that should work for us all. We want an NHS that caters for our needs whether it be cancer care, IVF, gender reassignment, wet AMD or any other illness or issue that is appropriate for the NHS to deal with, whether a mental or physical health issue.

We have lost confidence that Andrea Young can offer us this as Chief Executive of Oxfordshire PCT, and as residents of Oxfordshire, we ask her to resign so that someone proactive can take over.

Dear Andrea Young,

I believe in an NHS that should work for us all. I want an NHS that caters for Oxfordshire's needs whether it be cancer care, IVF, gender reassignment, wet AMD or any other illness or issue that is appropriate for the NHS to deal with whether a mental or physical health issue.

I have lost confidence that you can offer us this as Chief Executive of Oxfordshire PCT and as a resident of Oxfordshire, ask you to resign so that someone proactive can take over.

Thank you for taking the time in reading my letter.

I am 28 and my wife is 33 and has endometriosis. We have been informed that as we both work full time and pay high taxes we are not entitled to IVF until my wife reaches 35. (35 - 38 age range) I think this policy is absoloutely disgusting. We both pay towards society and neither of us have ever claimed a single benefit yet due to ridiculous age restrictions we are penalised merely because we don't fit into an age catergory. Once we pay for IVF (Totalling around £4000 with drugs) we will never be able to have any cycle of IVF on the NHS system..... How wrong is this process...

i think we should help those who want, and want to love and care for their own child as appose to those who have and neglect their children.

I am surprised a world leading country would allow such openly flagrant discrimination to their own people. I think they did something like that once before a couple hundred years ago, and the government lost pretty big time, considering they could of "had it all" if they had not POed "their own people."

Sorry, you're having to battle these problems. We're beginning to see similar problems headed our way in the US. What happens to public officials when they get in office? They forget who put them there and, more importantly, that they are there to serve the best interests of their constituency...not themselves! Good luck with your effort.

Anyone who cannot do the job they were hired or voted in for should resign. Local government seem to be totally somewhere else when it comes down to matters they should be dealing with regarding the general public, i.e (public toilets).Virtually hardly any!

IVF becomes half as successful if deferred for a decade. Give the treatment soon, increase the chances of success

End the unfair and unjust postcode lottery for IVF. Someone in the PCT must take charge and fight for us.

I have had to watch my best friend struggle and suffer and if I feel as sad and angry as i do, goodness knows how she feels!! Its wrong that she cannot get it, she is 24 and it must be the best time to do this due to her age not wait til she is older and less likely to succeed. Also this post coding is utter bull!!!

This is ridiculous, you would surely think that since we are literally being screwed for taxes and everything else in this county that they would have enough money to fund the IVF cycles for anyone...so question is, where the hell is all the money going? It isnt right that individuals to couples should suffer just because of the incompetance of the Oxfordshire PCT......damn straight my name is going down

I believe there is real discrimination in the access to IVF treatment specifically. To deny a woman younger that the age of 35 treatment is idiotic, her chances of conceiving are halved by then. Only a person who has not been through the torture and I mean torture of infertility can make such policy. It's inhuman. This needs to change and if regieme change is a way to effect this, then so be it.

Good idea how about we fund treatment from the overpaid wage she receives!!!!
