We, the undersigned, support the concept of an off-leash dog park for the City of North Bay.

An off-leash dog park is a win-win situation for dog owners, and non-dog owners. By having a safe, fenced in area for dogs to run free, you decrease the number of dogs roaming free on "restricted" areas, such as city beaches, parks and hiking trails.

Also, since all dogs that enter the park must be licensed with the city, you increase the sales of dog tags and therefore revenue for the Humane Society and the City of North Bay.

Thank you for taking the time to read this short letter, and signing our petition.  We will have a website up and running shortly so that you can track our progress with this endeavor.

As a responsible pet owner I realize that healthy dogs need to run in a safe evironemt without being endangered by distractions like porqupines etc.

Having lived in London, ON where dog parks have already been established, I remember when the citizens in London had proposed the idea and all the controversy that occurred. All of the "controversy" went away when the results were obvious - a safe place to bring one's dog, meet other people in your community, and it kept dog owners from just walking their dogs off leash in public parks (annoying joggers etc). It was clearly the way to go in London, and we in North Bay should learn from their experience. This is why I support off leash dog parks in North Bay.

Hi, having a fenced in, off-leash dog park in North Bay is very important issue for me. I am visually impaired and recently received a CVC(Canine Vision Canada) dogguide from Lions Foundation in Oakville,ON. Due to the fact that I don't have a fenced in yard or big enough area for her(Faith) to run around in freely. I believe dogs need a social life to where they can be just a dog, run and play with other dogs too! I believe Faith would be very HAPPY to see a Dog Park in North Bay. Just a note to say they have them everywhere else example: Oakville, Toronto etc. So why not in North Bay. Thank you from Faith and Melody (strong supporters!)

One of the true signs of a society's humanity is it's treatment of animals - all animals - this has not just been proven by documented research, but is simple common sense. An off leash park is a necessary component of a caring community

Although I live on 90 acres and my dog has no need for an off leash dog park, I still think the idea is terrific. I often go to Trenton to visit friends and they have a dog park there. All the dogs get along and when dogs are arriving and coming through the gate, they all get excited and run to greet them. I have never seen a dog fight break out at that park, although I'm sure it must happen at some time. They also have a separate fenced in area for dogs that are aggressive or puppies. I think all dogs need to socialize and they get the much needed exercise they deserve!

It would give a place for my dog to socialize.

Why is the issue of a fenced in, off-leash dog park important to you?

This issue is not as imporant to me now as it would have been a year ago since I've recently moved from North Bay to Sudbury. However, when I lived in North Bay, I found it hard to find places to run my dog. She's always very full of energy and needs a lot of exercise. I have always found that the best place to let her run off her leash has been in outdoor skating rinks (because they are boarded and she can't run too far...there's no danger of her being hit by a car...), but this is definitely not the best possible scenerio. Sudbury doesn't have a dog park either...and being in Sudbury now, I think that if North Bay got an off-leash dog park, it would go a long way towards getting one in Sudbury as well! Great idea Aaron!

I grew up in north bay for 20 of my 25 years i've recently moved to Sudbury but my parents and much of my family still live in North Bay and area. I come from a large family and many of us have dogs. Getting all together in one house is tough and when we bring the dogs its even more cramped. A dog park would allow us to be all together with our pets more often and having any excuse to be out side and active is a fantastic one. I fully support this petition i hope the park gets started quickly

Because it is a place where dogs can exercise and socialize with other dogs as well as other owners!
