We, the undersigned, support the completion of the Belmont-Platteville Bike Trail. Local residents have been looking forward to the completion of this trail for many years.
We understand that a grant was awarded for this trail and that Lafayette County is to administer the grant.
We urge Lafayette County, Grant County, the WI Department of Transportation and the Wisconsin DNR to move forward with this trail project.
Once complete, the 8 mile Belmont-Platteville Bike Trail will link to the existing Cheese Country Trail and connect the village of Belmont to downtown Platteville, the University of Wisconsin Platteville Campus and the mouth of the Rountree Branch Trail.

Because I formerly owned the Pine Grove Motel for 14 years, was a member of the local chamber of commerce, initiated the Lancaster Tourism Committee and was a member of the Tri-State Tourism Council for 4 years. I am very well aware of the potential income this could bring to our area. It promotes family, exercise and an appreciation of nature. The investment in projects such as this have paid off big time for other communities who have gone forward and actively promoted the investment.
