Earth's life-giving climate is our common inheritance. We have the right to pass this inheritance to our children. Global warming - primarily from fossil fuels - is disrupting our climate and causing a public health crisis from its associated air pollution.
We call on the California Air Resources Board and California Legislature to establish a Cap and Dividend system as the way to implement California's Global Warming Solution Act (AB32).
1. Make greenhouse gas polluters pay.
2. Set the price of pollution and the resulting economic incentive so that greenhouse gas emissions return to 1990 levels by 2020 and decline 80% by 2050 - thus meeting levels scientists say is required to stabilize the climate.
3. Pay dividends to California residents on an equal basis to offset the impact of rising energy prices on California families.

Protecting the earth, in particular impacting positively the global climate crisis, is of paramount importance to me. Please take all action possible to work towards solutions to this critical problem.
This is clearly the most important issue of theses times!!!!
Global warming will cause untold hardship for wildlife, plants and humans. The snow pack in the Sierra Nevada mountains, which provides water for our farms and citizens, will eventually disappear. Our beautiful state with it forests and farmlands will be forever changed. We need to act now if we are to avoid the worse of the climate change.
We need incentives to change our destructive habits and to stop the degradation of the air we breathe!
I will do everything that I can to make a smaller impact on our globe. And if I can do that with my meager middle-class income - then it's time that the big time polluters and corporations start putting a significant amount of work and resources toward the same goal. Our planet is exponentially getting warmer - and without drastic change, there will be drastic consequences.
It's the only issue as far as I can see. Everything else is subsumed under this one. Even health care will become possible when the stranglehold of the big oil and war corporations lose some of their power.
This is the best way to achieve equitable, efficient gains in climate protection.
Climate change and the run off of polluting garbage and water is harming our oceans. We need to protect our future from pollution that has caused a hole in the hemisphere and from the pollution that is killing our fish.
Because it's time that the major polluters pay and that incentives be established in law that motivate people to change!
The climate is owned by all the citizens of the Earth including duture generations that can not vote on how we use it. We need this system to insure that well connected wealthy investors do not control the fate of life on earth but that we the masses do.
The proposed Cap & Dividend measure is the most sensible and fair way to move California forward as a leader in the clean and renewable energy market. Please support this measure.
The cap and dividend model is the most fair and sensible approach to achieving emissions reductions. It requires those entities that pollute the most to pay the most while also creating positive incentives to reduce emissions that individuals also benefit from. In the words of Peter Barnes: "It’s simple, fair and market-based."
I believe this is one of the most important issues of our time and this feels like a good approach to deal with one aspect of it.

Mercury contamination in "our" Bay!
Those companies who pollute need to pay for their mistakes. We want CLEAN energy!! The poor and middle-income folks need to be protected from rising energy costs.
This bill will hopefully allow greater protections for the little guy in the future decisions over who pays for protections of climate change.
