There is a lot of overpass space in St. Petersburg, Florida.  This space is currently being used for the homeless, drug dealers, etc.  We would like the City of St. Petersburg to give us some space under one of the overpasses to build a skater operated skate park.  The space under an overpass being utilized for a skate park would better serve the community by offering space for skateboarders.  The skate parks in the City of St. Petersburg do not meet the needs of the skateboarders inasmuch as they were not designed and built by skateboarders.  An overpass would also offer protection from the elements and would potentially draw in a lot of visitors to the area.

With all the fat kids one sees nowadays, I think more of them should be on skateboards! I have never seen a fat skateboarder because they get a lot of exercise. The cops should not harass them wherever they see them and if there is a good place for them to go and skateboard, they won't be doing it all over the city. BUILD THEM A SKATE PARK ALREADY!

St Pete is a beautiful historic town, ive been there. As it is a tourist town, a skatepark will not only give your skate population somewhere to go, it will increase visitors. Offering something for the entire family :)

we need more skateparks, fossil is getting old, gulfport got me an 88$ ticket for not wearing a stupid helmet. SPoT is to far and Vista is Vista. building a new park will gain respect from local skaters towards the city and open up new friendships with skaters brainwashed to stand up for their skateshops like finest and Southern and make everyone friends. This is a great opportunity the skaters must take advantage of and jump all over before it gets passed by.

I visit St. Petersburg at least 2 a year. Every time i go i see ton's of kids skating down the street with nowhere to go and right behind them are the cops read to bust them for tresspassing. Give them a spot they can skate!!!

I think a skatepark is a great idea for the youth. All to often kids follow the wrong path cause there's not enough activities for kids from the point where school ends to the point where he goes home. I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of having something like this for children who may not have many choices for after school activities. It promotes physical activities that also seem lost in today's age as well as a means of challenging kids to solve problems thru figuring out how to learn tricks and it's a social common ground which encourages friendships and everything positive under the sun. There can't be enough good things said about this and I don't think this would require much on your part.
