Tell Tennessee Republican To Drop Anti-Trans Bill

  • by: Care2 Team

Tennessee has been involved with some of the most anti-LGBT bills in the country, and this is no different. A bill was introduced, called the "bathroom bill" that would criminalize those that use public dressing rooms and restrooms that don't match their sex. For those that break the law, there is a fine.

This endangers trans* and gender non-conforming people. Trans* people are already at much higher risks for urinary track infections and similar problems because of issues with public restroom access. These people may also face verbal and physical harassment or worse when using the facilities.

On Friday, January 13th, Senator Bo Watson withdrew the Senate version of the bill, but Representative Richard Floyd continues to strongly support it in the House.

Tell Floyd to drop this anti-trans bill!

Dear Representative Richard Floyd,

Please drop the "bathroom bill" that would criminalize those that use the bathroom or dressing room not belonging to their physical sex. Not only would could it lead to harassment or worse of trans* or gender non-conforming people, but it would also lead to health problems for these individuals like urinary tract infections because of limited access to the facilities, and it would also be impossible to enforce.

There are more important matters going on in the country right now, and it's important to remember that when thinking about whether to divert your attention away from this hateful bill.
