Ford-support-IEA for the Oakville Power Plant

Ford has entered into a purchase/sale transaction to sell a relatively small parcel of surplus land that is enabling the construction of a 985MW gas fired power plant by TransCanada. However, this particular site is extraordinarily close to an established neighbourhood in East Oakville with approximately 11,000 homes and 16 schools being located within a 3KM radius, which we believe exposes the neighbourhood to unnecessary, increased risk related to health, safety and security.

Ford has been an important community supporter of Oakville for over 53 years and we call upon Ford to "do the right thing" and stay the course with their corporate committment to safety, health and the environment.

Specifically, we are calling upon Ford provide funding to support an individual environmental assessment (IEA)of the proposed power plant.

This will help ensure that the health and safety of the residents as well as the workers at the Local Ford Assembly plant are not compromised by the development of the Oakville Generating Station

We the undersigned have grave concerns relating to the TransCanada proposal to build a 945MW gas fired power plant on surplus Ford lands. There are 16 schools and 11,000 homes within a 3KM radius of the proposed site which is also part of the over polluted Clarkson Air shed.
Ford has been an imporant community supporter to Oakville for 53 years and we call upon you to stay the course with your committment to safety, health and the environment.  Specifically, we call upon Ford to :

Support and fund an individual environmental assessment of the proposed power plant to help ensure that the health and safety of the residents and the workers at your Oakville Assembly plant are not compromised by the Oakville Generating Station
