MY SON IS DANIEL. HE WAS BORN IN 1985 IN LAFAYETTE LOUISIANA. HE COMES FROM DIVORCED PARENTS AND WAS A CHILD GREATLY %u2018INTERUPTED%u2019 BY HIS PARENTS SEPARATION AND DIVORCE. AT AGE 11 HE THOUGHT HE WAS THE SOURCE, AS MOST CHILDREN DO, OF THE ANIMOSITIY WITHIN HIS FAMILY. HE TURNED TO DRUGS. FROM A YOUNG AGE HE FELT THAT HE HAD NO ONE.... AND YES, WHILE THIS WHOLE TIME HE DID HAVE US, HIS PARENTS, HE FELT ALONE. TIME WENT BY.. YEARS WENT BY... DANIEL'S ADDICTION TO PRESCRIPTION DRUGS ESCALATED AND IN 2004 HE WAS ARRESTED AND SPENT TWO YEARS IN OUR PARISH JAIL.... WITHIN MONTHS... HIS ADDICTION DEFEATED HIM AGAIN... HE WAS SENT TO REHABILIATION AND SPENT A YEAR IN A HALFWAY HOUSE... HE BEGAN COLLEGE AND WAS DOING REALLY WELL.. GRADES GOOD... MET A GIRL THAT HE FELL IN LOVE WITH... AND THEN HE RELAPSED. THIS IS WHERE THE STORY GETS REALLY MESSY.
HE WAS ARRESTED ONE NIGHT IN MONROE, LA. THIS WAS NOT A DRUG RELATED CHARGE, BUT A SIMPLE PULL-OVER BECAUSE HIS LICENSE PLATE WAS OBSTRUCTED. THIS WE BELIEVE WAS DONE PURPOSELY BY A LOCAL DRUG DEALER IN ORDER TO HAVE MY SON TAKEN OUT OF THE EQUATION. DANIEL WAS ARRESTED. HE NEARLY DIED IN OUACHITA PARISH CORRECTIONAL CENTER IN MONROE, LA., DUE TO THE HIGH CONTENT OF DRUGS IN HIS SYSTEM AND THE LACK OF MEDICAL CARE THAT WAS GIVEN TO HIM WHEN HE WAS BROUGHT IN. I WENT TO SEE HIM SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND EVEN AFTER THAT AMOUNT OF TIME HAD PASSED SINCE HIS ARREST, HE DOES NOT REMEMBER MY BEING THERE AND WAS STILL 'NOT COHERENT'. ON THE THIRD DAY OF BEING THERE... THEY ADDED AN 'ATTEMPTED ROBBERY' CHARGE!!!! THREE DAYS 'AFTER' HIS ARREST THEY ADDED THAT TRUMPED UP CHARGE TO HIS RECORD. FROM THIS POINT THINGS BEGIN TO SNOWBALL.
HE WAS KEPT IN A PORTION OF THIS JAIL FOR DOC IMMATES. THIS IS HARDENED CONVICTED CRIMINALS AND MURDERERS AND CHILD
MOLESTORS. MY SON WAS KIDNAPPED WITHIN THE PRISON WALLS... AND HELD CAPTIVE FOR OVER 3 DAYS BY 5 MEN! THREE DAYS!!!!! THEY BEAT MY SON TO WITHIN AN INCH OF HIS LIFE! THEY ASSAULTED HIM REPEATEDLY! NOTHING WAS DONE!!!!! NOTHING WAS DONE TO PROTECT MY SON

HE HAS SINCE BE SENT TO ANOTHER FACILITY AND WHILE THERE... WAS ACCUSED OF SMOKING MARIJUANA. HE TOLD ME THAT HE'S ONLY JUST WOKEN UP AND GONE INTO THE BATHROOM... WHERE HE WAS ACCUSED BY A GUARD. HE WAS DRUG TESTED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES ON THIS OCCASION... AND TEST NEGATIVE EACH TIME! YET HE IS BEING HELD IN A 6X6 JAIL CELL AND BEING SHIPPED OUT TO YET ANOTHER PRISION SOMEWHERE...THESE CHARGES HAVE BEEN REVERSED BY THE DEPT OF CORRECTIONS DUE TO LACK OF EVIDENCE.
MY SON'S INITIAL SENTENCE WAS TO HAVE RUN CONSECUTIVE .. THIS ALONE IS UNHEARD OF! THIS ALONE IS A INJUSTICE! MY SON IS NOT A MURDERER... MY SON IS NOT A CHILD MOLESTOR.... His face is bruised and beaten, but these are only the ones that we can see. My son has been through far more than is warranted for his crime. I beg each of you, to please sign this petition, demanding that he be released to me now... and not 2014 as is their sentence. Please help me to save this young man. My Son.

As I have worked in the a youth detention facility for years I have seen these things done over and over. This "game" is done to people because it is a political move or Judge want to make a point out of one person. As for me I could not play there "games" with peoples lives, so I no longer work for any part political "games", it sickened me!! I am truly sorry for your son and you and your family!!! This young man by my belief has more than served his time. I feel outrage that the very people who took an oath to protect and to server would be the very ones who deserve to be held accountable for this unjust treatment.
