Our son has been wrongfully convicted of a crime that never happened. We are in the process of appealing but this petition is to be sent to Governor Edward G Rendell of Pennsylvania to have our son moved to the minimum security prison he was classified to be in during the classification process at SCI Camp Hill. He classified as a level 2 but was sent to Pennsylvania's largest maximum security prison in our state, SCI Graterford.

His being sent to Pennsylvania's largest maximum security prison on the complete opposite side of the state is another injustice he is enduring in addition to being wrongfully convicted. It is our hope that we can gather 1,000 signatures to send to the Governor for him to push to have our son moved immediately!

His being in a maximum security prison denies him the privileges he would have in a minimum security prison and further punishes him for a crime that never happened. Please sign our petition and add a simple note of why you believe Mike should be moved as well.

Dear Governor Rendell:

We the undersigned are requesting that you please intervene for Michael James DeLoe to have him placed in the minimum security prison he was classified to be in during the classification process at SCI Camp Hill in which he classified as a Level 2.

Michael has been a model inmate without any infractions which has been verified by Senator Pippy's office and without any prior criminal record.

This classification is a minimum security classification that gives such prisoners more access to Based Program Incentives and Privileges according to D.O.C. policy number 11.2.1. He should have been sent to a minimum state prison per the classification process which would also enable him to be closer to his support group of family, friends, spiritual and legal counsel. There are two minimum security prisons he can be sent to which is Mercer or Laurel Highlands. These are the only two minimum based prisons he can go to out of the three in Pennsylvania. Although SCI Pittsburgh is a minimum security prison he CAN NOT be sent to SCI Pittsburgh as a family member of his ex wives is a Correctional Officer there and had threatened to harm him. While housed there for 10 days he was put in Super Max Lock Down for his safety and was denied everything other than a jumpsuit, food and a shower twice. He was not allowed out of that cell for any sort of exercise or even to just get a breath of air. There was a hearing performed pertaining to this at SCI Pittsburgh and you can request a copy of that hearing. We got through yet another injustice, his being victimized and threatened by an EMPLOYEE of the system who if they cannot control their emotions should not be a Correctional Officer at all.

After doing everything that has been required of him and being wrongfully convicted he has now been placed in SCI Graterford, Pennsylvania's largest maximum security prison in the state.

We are not requesting any special privileges; we are only requesting that the D.O.C. abide by their own rules and regulations pertaining to the classification process.

Senator Pippy's aide was told by his liaison that Michael was moved there due to the programs he will require and this is not true. We've been informed by his attorney that they have been given incorrect information and that Michael is being railroaded by someone in the system, most likely the Correctional Officer at SCI Pittsburgh.

Michael has done everything required of him and classified as a level 2 and now once again is being punished by a system that is not abiding by their own rules and regulations.

Please, request Michael be moved to Mercer or Laurel Highlands immediately, a minimum security prison that he was classified to be in.

We are humbly grateful for your attention to this matter and thank you in advance for your help.

I am in total dismay, there are levels set for very good reason. One being the safty for the inmate. This is a horrific doing of your correctional dept and it needs to be fixed and the blame will rest on your shoulders if this man is injured or worse by a violent level 4 inmate. I worked in the prisons for 11 years, spending more than half the time in the classification unit. I am very much aware of the process and I agree, that Mike should be moved to a minimum security prison. The injustice is further induced by restricting him further placing him in a maximum security prison.

If people do not abide by the rules of the classification process, then how can they expect inmates to abide by the rules? If they can't do the job correctly, get someone in their position that can.

Governor Rendell, We ask you to look into this recent matter of injustice to Mike as well as the injustice he has received by first not given a fair trial and found guilty by false allegations. Washington County Government must be investigated and the family must be interviewed as well as the jurors to let you know exactly how this trial went down. In my opinion, Mike was found guilty by them before the trial even started. He should not be in prison in the first place and his mother & family have been through enough and now this. She has to worry about her child being in a maximum security prison when he should have never been incarcirated in the first place. How can something like this happen?
