Bring Rector Powell to William and Mary

Target:
Students, Faculty, and Staff of William and Mary
Sponsored by:
We, the undersigned, demand that Michael Powell, Rector of the Board of Visitors, stand accountable for his actions. We demand the minutes and the vote count of the Board of Visitors meeting in which Powell and the Board decided not to renew Nichol. We also demand he come to our campus, working with our student and faculty leaders, to answer questions put forward by the campus community. We request that Gene Nichol be present to ensure a balanced perspective, and speak on his experiences.

What has been done to Gene Nichol is not only an outrage but also in violation of the College's very own honor code.

As a recent alum ('07) of the college, I can't believe that this has happened. I'm also in disbelief that delegates from my area in NoVA may have played a part in these events. Hark upon the gail!

Here is to accountability for the decision to get rid of one of the best and most inspiring presidents I have seen for enforcing the backbone of this college. Freedom of ideas, diversity, and a commitment to the good of the ones that loved him.
