ITTF ban sux

Stop the ITTF from banning tuners!

Target:
International Table Tennis Federation
Sponsored by:
We are petitioning to stop the ITTF in their tracks. They have proposed yet  another ban on tuners with virtually no reasoning behind it and with very little turnaround time. Not only is it affecting the consumer, but also the businesses that have spent massive amounts of money developing ITTF-compliant tuners. The ITTF's other decisions have been questionable in the past, so now we want to do something about it.

Totally agree, it's time to let know the ITTF what the people think about the direction it's taking.

It is time to get rid of the sicko sharara. He has caused much losses and inconvenience to players the world over, made a lot of money from the players but brought absolutely no benefit to players.

Yes, change the Ittf president a sharara the obsessive banner to someone more dynamic and forward looking and not also anti-China which have brought us much benefits and entertainment.

too many changes in too short a time, we are losing the diversity of styles. I do not play with these rubbers either.

It is an absolutely unneccessary ban which will only further disrupt the sport of table tennis. It is also absolutely clear to me that it will not help to solve any of the table tennis problems (which is what ITTF claims to be mostly concerned about)

Using tuners is NOT any different than using different rubbers to try and find the one that best suits your style of play. The only difference being that instead of paying for a new rubber every time you want a slightly different characteristic, you can effect changes with different degrees of tuning. The ban on tuners ONLY BENEFITS THE RUBBER MANUFACTURERS!!!

The speed-glue VOC ban is appropriate. The tuner VOC ban is not appropriate at this time due to the short notice given to players. The inability of the ENEZ device in differentiating "high level" speed-glue VOC from "low level" tuner VOCs should not be the cause of disqualification of a bat. It is not the tuners that need to be changed. It is the ENEZ device that needs to be improved.

So long it's not generating harmful vapors, tuners should be allowed. Because: - the expensive TT equipment manufacturers add whatever chemical required to get desired properties - with tuners, we can manage to buy inexpensive equipments and match the desired properties or close enough, making it a level playing field Technology should be welcome so long it doesn't affect health, but only makes the game better. Or else we shouldn't use graphite in golf clubs.

Yes I think long pips should be banned since they only make the game less attractive to viewers. Viewers fail to appreciate why a poor shot wins the point than applauding a nice shot.

The bans imposed by the ITTF have an impact of confusion around the world's TT clubs. Some members follow them and some don't and others don't know what they are supposed to do. So it ends up de-stabilising the sport and drives people away from Table tennis and causes fighting between groups and individuals. The bans have very little basis to them except perhaps at an international level, and even then it is dubious. It is also very discriminitive to ban rubber additives because some people simply cannot afford to keep buying new rubbers but can increase the life of their rubbers or enhance their rubbers characterisitics using household products. Considering the effect of the bans only on Professional players is both elitist and bad for the sport (where do they think pros come from?).

I do not want the Voc glues. I don't have money, i cant afford to buy water based glue .. and water is slower than the VOC glues

There was no reason to ban the tuners/boosters too! I was agree with the ban of the VOC-glues, but not with the ban of the alternatives without any reason!

It is a stupid ban with NO reasonable justification! It gives the impression that is trying to help the bottom line of the rubber manufacturers (its biggest money contributors), now that the secrets of inexpensive, effective tuners (PO, EO, GG, etc.)have become widely known.

It's important to me because the new "tensor" rubbers aren't as good as a fresh glued rubber. Also, I really love Butterfly BryceFX but without glue it's way too slow =( ! Please allow some kind of VOC-free glues ITTF or it will ruin the table tennis community for sure!

No.

Many players of all levels have been left in the dark and forced to rely on unofficial side-channel communication with officials about what might be legal in the near future. Even now with a ban potentially imminent (if "off-the-record" communications from officials are to be believed), players are forced to speculate about the ITTF rationale in potentially banning tuners, while manufacturers continue to market and sell these products. Moves that benefit the sport are of course in everyones' interest, but the process absolutely does more harm than good when it frustrates and alienates current players that are passionate about the sport. If a ban is to be considered, the ITTF owes the players the courtesy of making the reasons for the ban known beforehand. The fact that players are trying to put the pieces together while major manufacturers with much more direct communication with the ITTF can't seem to get on board is a very troubling sign. Those in favor of tuners should absolutely sign, but players against tuners should see beyond this immediate question and ask themselves if this is the kind of process they feel will be healthy for the sport in the long-term.

I think that there is no reason to ban the tuners...This will not help table tennis to become more famous.Changing the rules all the time will only harm the sport!!!
# 20:

"Tuners" are not harmful to anyone's health. In fact, they can level the playing field to players that cannot hit the ball as hard as other players, albeit at the risk of decreasing ball control. However, it should be okay for players to use. Besides, the use of harmless tuners cannot be enforced by ITTF officials and only honest players will be penalized from using it as the dishonest players will continue to use it (knowing it will be impossible to detect the substance).

The ITTF should allow the use of a rubber that has a sponge with varying degrees of hardness. This would be a safe way to enhance the performance of the rubber to maximize control, spin, and or speed and allow manufacturers to carefully tailor the rubber for a multitude of playing styles. If the glue and tuners are going to be "taken from" the manufacturers, then by all means, please replace them with something that can be marketed. If the ITTF is so concerned about slowing the game down for the spectator (and by the way, it's the player that plays a match,... not the spectator!), then the economy of the table tennis industry needs to also be kept in balance in order to maintain a healthy future for our sport.

Gluing outside the facility should be sufficient.... banning glue is just pure silly, the other player is not going come over and sniff your rubber and get sick...

Before a ban like this takes place there needs to be controlled studies and flat out evidence to support the bans on the VOC glues and VOC free glues and tuners. Until this is done there is no concrete argument to support this decision.

It fun when everyone do anything possible to win, as long it legal and polite. It is polite to ban harmful substances to be added to rubber may be blade (they do state their reason), but banning with no apparent reason is not. No fun in facing already handicapped opponent.

For ITTF, please ask the table tennis community when making rules. A "G-14" as in football is needed as community's speaker.

ITTF's decisions are not good to the current crop of players be it at beginner level to international. Sudden rule implementations are not good in any organization or institution.

I have seen the legality in banning harmful speed glues containing VOCs. However, the banning of tuners which were created as an alternative to replace speed glue without openly explaining such actions is just irresponsibility and poor judgement on you the ITTF's part.

i have spent many hours and funds to get my `perfect` set up,banning tuners won`t slow the game down because glue effect rubbers will be similar, just more expensive, tuners are not a health hazard so how can you justify banning them?
