Just say no to

Just say no to "Made in China

Target:
Senators & Congress, Chinese officials
To vote with our consumer dollars - against human and animal rights nonexistence, lack of high product intergrity and low safety standards as well as the repression of opinions and freedom of speech in China.  To ask our legislators to move promptly on "COOL" (Country of Origin Labels) on ALL products so we might be informed and allowed our choices in purchases.

We, the undersigned, have vowed to just say no to products made in China.

Because of this nation's industrial revolution in recent years, China is now the largest producer of carbon dioxide in the world and a major polluter of the environment.  Global warming cannot be slowed down without world-wide commitment.

Human and animal rights are nonexistent in this country.  Atrocities such as the massacre of over 50,000 dogs in several culling incidences over an outbreak of rabies, the dog and cat fur trade, suppression of Internet access and detention of those who use this media to speak out continue on in China without abatement.

Over sixty percent of the recalls in America this year were on products made in China; the Chinese regulators say nearly a fifth of the food and consumer products sold in China are substandard; and Chinese officials admit that the current food and drug safety situation is not very satisfactory -- all of these factors combined indicate that until safety and quality are priorities as high as we Americans hold them to be, we need to say no to China.

Chinese officials will not modify their positions on safety and pollution issues, human and animal rights, or freedom of expression until the Chinese economy is affected by our united actions of not buying Chinese products.

We are asking our legislators to move promptly forward on COOL (Country of Origin Labeling) for ALL products we consume so that we will be informed where products are coming from.

Therefore, we the undersigned are expressing our positions on these issues with our consumer dollars and just saying NO to China!

I support COOL 200% and want to see our government FINALLY start doing what it best for the PEOPLE of our country and NOT what is always best for the BUSINESSES. After all - without the people there will be no need for the businesses. We need stricter regulations on what we allow to be imported into the US....and ENFORCEMENT of the regulations that are in place.

Shame on us! Why are we giving China "Favored Nation" status, to a country that is doing such damage to our world. Congress needs to stop worrying about their jobs and start DOING their job! P.S. - I won't be watching the Olympics this year!

It's time we started making our own things instead of relying on foreign products of which we have no idea how they're made or control of such. What an easy way for a country to send in something dangerous if they so wished to.

It's time to SAY NO!! I refuse to buy anything that is stamped "Made in China". They killed hundreds of our dogs and cats. They've poisoned our children with their toxic toys! God only knows what else they've done to Americans, much less what they do to their own people and the World!!

Our legislators have failed to insure the products we consume and use are safe. Big business has courted and successfully lobbied our legislative members to ease restrictions placed on consumer products – the outcome of this effort was to have the year 2007 become known as “The Year of the Recall”. Country of origin labeling (COOL) has STILL not happened to our food, despite legislation in 2002, as it has successfully been delayed time and time again by powerful agribusiness and grocery concerns. As a consumer, I cannot go into my grocery store and know where a piece of meat was raised, processed or packaged… I cannot be sure items are not contaminated with foodborne diseases… my children and grandchildren have no assurances things that they handle, touch or eat are safe. Agencies entrusted with our safety have been bridled with budget and staff cuts – some agencies do not inspect even 1% of the products in their jurisdiction! ‘Voluntary safety standards’ are seen by the Chinese as just that – voluntary – and they simply don’t have to adhere to them. And yet, we continue to court trade with the Chinese to the point that 20% of the products Americans consume or use come from China now. There is absolutely nothing right, ethical, moral or decent the way things are being handled now in regards to American consumers. It’s time for a change – immediate and effective ones – not 5,10, 15 years down the road when China (the largest contributor of carbon dioxide to our world) has led this world directly into global warming because of their drive for the almighty American dollar! We WILL go the way of the dinosaurs if we don’t force the Chinese imports (and ALL items American consume) to reflect those safety standards that we have a right to expect by the votes we gave to our legislators! Remember, it took just TWO Chinese factories with contaminated products to cause the pet food recall of over 200 brands and thousands of pet deaths... Just two...

As a free nation, we must protect consumers from countries that are interested in money over safety.
