The newly launched KDS road safety vehicles, promoting Road Safety throughout Scotland.

KDS Road Safety "STOP THE DEATHS ON UK ROADS"

Target:
10000

3,172 people were killed on the UK's roads each year.  That means that every day, nine police officers have to visit nine families and break the news that a loved one has suffered a sudden, violent death.  A further 28,673 people are seriously injured in road crashes. That's more than 70 people every day suffering injuries which include brain damage, paralysis, loss of limbs, severe burning or facial disfigurement - injuries that can change lives forever.

KDS are dedicated to reducing these figures.

KDS recently won a Fleet Safety Forum award for excellence for its outstanding commitment to road safety. By re-branding its vehicles it aims to keep road safety at the forefront of the minds of employees and other road users.

Our aim,  is to initiate a sea change in attitudes towards road safety and proposing proactive ways of reducing the unacceptable record of death and injury on UK roads.

We will be using this petition to raise this issue with the British and Scottish Parliaments.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We the undersigned would like to highlight the following issues that relate to Road Safety in the UK.

We are focussing on these points.

Point 1: What is the value on a human life? The sentences handed out by the justice system are not hard enough

Point 2: Alcohol should not be served at filling stations

Point 3: Road markings at or near primary/secondary schools should be in red

Point 4: If you have been banned from driving, you should have to re-sit your driving test

Point 5: Total elimination of mobile phones within vehicles i.e. ban on hands free

Point 6: The car industry has to take more of a moral and social responsibility in promoting road safety

Point 7: Rolling road safety adverts displayed in pubs, clubs (after 7pm) and in car showrooms

We would like to thank your for taking the time to read over our concerns and we would like to start to change the carnage that road deaths bring to thousands of families accross the UK

I have long held the opinion that hand held mobiles phones should be illegal while driving a car. Any distraction can have devestating consequences, but this is one that can be legislated against and should be.

We owe it to our selves and our loved ones to be mindful of road safety each time we get behind the wheel and drive !

In the past, I was involved in a road traffic accident and was lucky to survive. I am in complete agreement with what KDS are trying to achieve, feel that it would make a major difference on our roads and fully support them.

I am a total believer in road safety and feel not enough is being done by the people who are supposed to be responsible for our childrens education and thier safety. Drink driving should not have a limit of 35 milligrams but should be zero.

Harder hitting TV campains, should be shown throughout the day, also if we all started taking registration numbers of careless or dangerous driving and reported it to the police it might make drivers think about what they are doing

Should be compulsory for young drivers and the newly passed to view and do a road safety course. Also there should be no limits to drink when driving as 1 is to much! DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE should mean DON'T instead of a little is ok !!!

Please consider this cause, even though I am not represented by MPs because I am in the US, I would like to know I will not get hit by cars when I am on holiday in London or anywhere in the UK.

It is such a shame that so many deaths on the roads are caused by a lack of common sense, where has common sense gone in this country?

In Brazil 40.000 people died every year only in car accidents!

I believe that there should be heavier fines for smoking and the use of mobile phones while driving. agree wholeheartedly with all the points raised in the petition

What POSSIBLE good reason should people be allowed just one drink whilst driving. Use public transport or DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.
