I join the Michigan Complete Streets Coalition in support of statewide Complete Streets policies that require state and local road agencies to design and maintain roadways for all users, of all ages and abilities.

The streets of our cities and towns are an important part of the livability of our communities. They ought to be designed for everyone, whether young or old, motorist or bicyclist, walker or wheelchair user, bus rider or shopkeeper. It is time that our state's transportation planning agencies - including the Michigan Department of Transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, local road agencies, and local arms of government - Complete Streets policies and build a safer, cleaner, more sustainable transportation system.

Like many people of a certain age, I cherish my ability to get out and enjoy both my local and more distant surroundings on 2 wheels. Being able to do so safely is of paramount importance.

We must make bicycling and walking more attractive, safer, and convenient. For so many reasons, soon we will not be able to drive our cars where ever and whenever we wish.

While most bicyclists are courteous and follow the rules of the road, there are some that are just as oblivious to need for sharing the road as some of the worst motorists. Designing roads to accommodate everyone will be beneficial to ALL!

As a cyclist and a runner, I believe everyone should have safe access to a transportation network designed for all users----cyclist and pedestrian friendly streets are great for our environment, our communities, and our public health. It's time to make it happen, it's time to re-invent Michigan.

I enjoy riding my bike for both fun and transportation. I have a 5 year old daughter that absolutely LOVES to ride with me using a tag-a-long bike that connects to mine. We go to the park, to the Children's Museum, and many other destinations by bike during the summer. I find that it is especially frightening when I have my precious child hooked to the back of me, and I cannot find a safe route of passage for us using our bike. It makes no sense to me that we cannot have some sort of routing that will allow us to use this sort of transportation. I would ride my bike much more often if there were complete streets allowing me a safe route to ride my bike to all of my destinations. Please support this initiative and work for better options for transportation here in Grand Rapids, and in Michigan as a whole. Sincerely, Thomas Fish

I ride trails a lot but trails don't always go where I want to go so then I ride roads and streets. I feel that streets should be safe for both cars and bicycles so I support Complete Streets.

The condition of the streets and county roads is critical to safety of Michigan cyclists and pedestrians. Obesity in this state in particular is at epidemic proportions and making roads more accessible to riders and walkers is a necessary prerequisite to addressing this major public health problem.

I try and walk or bicycle to work and to run my errands, so complete streets is a safety issue for me.

More bicycle-friendly streets are a win-win for everyone. It will encourage more cyclists to get out and ride, and will increase cycling awareness for everyone else.

When I ride my bicycle, I am always careful and aware of my surroundings. However, many automobile and truck drivers do not pay attention to their surroundings. I have had many near misses and would prefer the streets be made safe for everyone. Riding the sidewalk is not an option.

because we have problems as a country. Global warming, obesity, and congestion. Using a bicycle, or walking, attack all of these issues. the biggest reason people don't commute or use their bikes is because it is dangerous when there is no room for bikes and peds.
