Help save the healhty and treatable dogs and cats in Brevard's shelters by saying

Support Brevard County Animal Shelters Go No-Kill

Target:
Brevard County Commisioners
Brevard County in Florida has an extremely high pet over- population and equally high kill rates.  In Brevard over 10,000 animals are being euthanized annually . We plan on scheduling a meeting with the commissioner about wanting ALL shelters in Brevard to go No-Kill.  No-kill has been done and can be done.  Let's do what is right for the animals who deserve the quality care and life they deserve. There is no excuse for putting animals down. Let's tell our county that we are fed up with the inexcusable killing of healthy and adoptable pets!

Shelter Cat

We need as much of the community to help us. There is power in numbers and we can achieve this goal if we all work together! Every single person counts and is extremely important, 1 signature is 1 step closer to achieving a fighting chance for these animals.  Please pass this on to everyone and anyone you know that cares what happens to these animals, think of the lives you'll help! We plan on bringing this petition with us when we go to the meeting to show the community's support.

Just between the South and the North Animal Care and Adoption Centers in 1/1/06-12/31/06  a total of 15,821 cats and dogs were brought to the shelter. Out of the 15,821 cats and dogs, 10,013 were euthanized making it 63% destroyed!

We the undersigned are hear to say that we are tired of seeing perfectly healthy and adoptable pets being put down.  We are better than the killing of innocent animals.  This reflects our community, No-Kill is best for the animals and best for the community. Thousands of animals are being put down each year and is ridiculous. We can not stand by any longer while this injustice occurs. We want ALL Brevard county shelters to turn No-Kill. This has and can be done.  We want these animals the have a full and happy life they deserve.  The animals are in our hands lets take the step in the humane and compassionate direction.  Let's look forward to a better tommorow.  Thank you for taking the time to read and we hope you do the right thing you know is in your hearts to do.

We must find a way to help the helpless. What are the reasons that the Brevard County Animal Shelters can not all be "No Kill"? Is it just money? Lack of volunteers? If we all work together, maybe a solution can be found. More people will go to a shelter that is known to be a "No Kill" as it makes the process of looking for a family pet much more enjoyable for both the family and the prospective pet. Surely the county would support this view.

Animals deserve quality care and life. There is no excuse for putting animals down. Let's encourage our county to spend time and money feeding and finding good homes for these animals. We are fed up with the inexcusable killing of healthy and adoptable pets!

Although there is an over-population of animals in Brevard County's shelters, killing them is not the solution. Instead the public must be made aware of shelter adoption. I plead with you, the Commissioners of Brevard County, to look into an innocent dog or cat's eyes and then look into your hearts and do the right thing and pass the no-kill measure. Thank you for your support.

More education is needed about the importance of spaying and neutering animals. Unwanted creatures need our help, not a death sentence.

I think it is appalling that a "civilized" society cares for its animals by disposing of them. It's time to step up and care for those that cannot help themselves.

No animal should be put down unless they are dangerous to society. I have a dog & he is my life & best friend. Everyone should have a pet & be kind & good to them.

Over 10,000 animals euthanized per year in this county alone is absolutely unacceptable. WHY SHOULD THESE ANIMALS PAY THE PRICE FOR THE IRRESPONSIBILITY OF OUR ADULT CITIZENS ???????
# 2,537:

Please hear the cry to save our homeless animals. Bring about a positive change starting with low cost/free spay/neuter clinics to help curb the over population of unwanted animals. Education & Prevention is the way to go...not euthanasia.

It is not the animals fault the their previous owners took on more than they can chew or want! They deserve the chance for life. If people would spay and neuter their animals, the over population would decrease as well.

It is beyond time that this senseless practice ends. It is far more cost-effective to prevent the problem of pet overpopulation than to shelter and ultimately destroy these innocent lives.

If we could all help to eliminate the puppy mills, it would reduce the number of animals in the shelters as well as reduce the hereditary defects going down the line.

These poor animals are being euthanized unnecessarily! This has got to be stopped!! I just rescued a blind dog from going to a shelter because I know he wouldn't have been given a chance in the world in a shelter. He is only 4 years old. Let's save our animals and come up with a better plan to control the population of unwanted animals! Veterinarians need to start volunteering more services and cut their rates more so people can afford to care for their pets!! It can be done!

As a owner of a pet grooming shop I OFTEN hear of dogs needed rehoming, or people that have No idea what they are doing throwing dogs together to make more puppies that will probally end of in a shelter. While in one of these kill shelters I was there whe a volunteer told 2 people turning in dogs that the dogs would be more then likely within 24 hours...the attitude there seems to be a place simular to death roll..There no where to really take a dog out and visit and see them run.. I feel if the attidue at the south brevard on on Eugallie changed from it being a attitude or punlic perception of a dogs last walk and instead ake it fucus totally as a adopton center less dogs would have to die. Ive been there 2x and both times it smelled BADLY and just about every run had feces and urine in with the dog. There needs to be a clean place where the potential adoption family and play and interact with each other.
