We ask for action against SNBL Testlab in Everett

to all to signed : It's official. Scalding a lab monkey to death in a hot-water rack-washer doesn't violate any federal animal welfare laws.

According to recent Kiro investigative reports, in November 2007, a healthy female Cynomolgus Macaque monkey was left  inside a wire kennel that was placed into a rack-washer. During the 20 minutes cycle the primate was killed at some point by the hot water, the caustic foam and detergents.

A reasonably prudent person could not have loaded the kennel into the rack-washer without noticing that an animal was present, as Cynomolgus Macaques use to bark very loudly.

The Washington animal cruelty statute appears to have been violated regardless of whether the act was intentional. Read here about Washington Animal Cruelty Statute : http://www.paws.org/help/report/state_laws.php

We the undersigned, are appalled by the cruelty that took place in the Biomedical Testlab SNBL in Everett, where a female Cynomolus Macaque was boiled alive inside a giant rack-washer.

We are writing to you, Honorable Prosecuting Attorney Janice Ellis.

Please do everything in your power to ensure that the most severe punishment is given to the employee(s) who killed this female Macaque by butting her in a rack-washer and neglecting the most simple rules of attention and care.

According to public informations widely available this is not the first act of violence and cruelty in this Lab. 2000 or more primates are caged in this Testlab and these animals are not treated according to law.

For these reasons we aks your office to give the necessary attention to this matter and to prosecute any animal cruelty case occurring.

Sincerely,
