We the undersigned believe that the State of New Hampshire should put up Historical Markers along the route traveled by Betty and Barney Hill in the White Mountains.On this journey they encountered a Ufo and were later forced aboard it and made the subjects of medical procedures.Historicaly it is one of the first reported alien abductions.Their story is well known and believed to be true.

Placing the historic markers along the Hill's journey route would validate once and for all the impact that their encounter had not only on their own lives but those lives of so many others who have experienced this same phenomena. I remember seeing Betty and Berney on a TV talk show. I was just a teenager and was already believing in UFOs because my mother saw the very first UFO sighting in Washington over Mt.Rainer. Also if anybody thinks that we are alone in this universe they better open there mind.

As a teenager I read the "The Interrupted Journey" by John G. Fuller and was completely captivated! The Hill's abduction story was even featured in Life magazine and Betty and Barney were portrayed as genuine and there story nothing short of fantastic. Even today, the story of Betty and Barney Hill stands up to scientific scrutiny and is known by literally MILLIONS of people around the world. I would truly enjoy a trip myself to see the strip of highway where the encounter occurred. Please seriously consider the historical marker, if not today, it will most certainly become a historical landmark some time in the very near future.

Their willingness to talk about what happened while fearing to be seen as crackpots and ridiculed took great courage. Being able to speak the truth when no one wants to listen is a basic tenet of American freedom. Commemorating the Hills’ courage to speak out is deserved, and appropriate.

Their experience was the first of its kind to be so thoroughly documented and investigated. It has ushered in the era of serious scientific inquiry into the investigation of UFO’s and has inspired a lot of those scientific minds to rethink what we “know” about the universe.
