Thank you for your continued efforts to work with the residents of Pine Grove to ensure our safety and to support the further development of our community.

As a potential homebuyer in Pine Grove, this road issue could very well affect our decision to purchase in this neighborhood. I have driven the "scenic rouute" the others have mentioned and it is completely out of the way from the local schools. I cannot believe the road was built and now is not allowed to be used. If the 'dangerous curve' is the concern, straighten it!!

If there is an accident on the corner of Hardesty and Pine Grove Dr, there is no entrance/exit from the community without using 101st which is currently barricaded. We need a second exit from the community.

Why is it that the city always brings up the dangerous curve on Staley Road as a reason to keep the entrance closed, when they know that most of the traffice goes east not west out of the neighborhood. ----With the entrance closed, we now are forced to drive the dangerous part (which includes the dangerous curve) of Staley Road to go east from N Topping to Staley High------. Why is it that Kansas City allows North Kansas City and Staley Farms neighborhood to connect to Staley Road after denial to Pine Grove stating the road was to dangerous? Is it that Kansas City beleives that most of the traffic will go east not west? The same is true of Pine Grove, the traffic will go east not west, so Kansas City should get over whatever it is and open the entrance for Pine Grove. Regards, J C and Jean Ann Frost

The subdivision does not meet safety code standards due to only having one access road and the one it does have is a old country road. I have tried to sell several clients home in this subdivision in which they decided to buy somewhere with better access for safety & convenience purposes. This is too bad that there has to be a petition signed just to have the original plans carried out. Just look at the road in question. It presents a much more prestiges lookl when driving up compared to the other road with 2 rat hole foreclosures that they can't even sell. I can't imagine the money that all of that rock cost. How would you like to live in a subdivision that did not meet safety codes?

All you have to do is come look for yourself. There is one entrance for several hundred people to use. It does not meet safety code even if the Fire Dept signed off on it and our homes values are being impacted bu the lack of inventory allowed to be built and access is terrible. I am tired of these issues. When we bought our home in 2004 there was supposed to be another access road! The road is there and they have already measured the traffic in and out so let's see some action?

This street is located much closer to our schools than the dangerous route that is taken currently by our school buses. The streets are not cleaned properly in the winter months!

When we purchased in PineGrove the road was open and we are 2 houses from that enterance. We are very concerned about fire and ambulance time to go the "senic Rout". Also if you look up our address on most GPS it will direct you to the closed entrance. We are tired of all the mud in front of our house because everyone drives around the barricade and tracks mud up N Lawn avenue. The road is there PLEASE OPEN IT.

We are looking at Pine Groves as a neighborhood to potentially live in. This is impacting our decision to move here.

FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT I THINK IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ANOTHER ENTRANCE BE OPENED IN CASE OF FIRE, ETC. IF THE MAIN ENTRANCE IS BLOCKED IT WOULD BE A MESS.

For emergency and safety reasons, the lack of a second entrance/exit is an obvious issue. Additionally, with the current depressed economy, anything that is viewed as a negative feature for Pine Grove such as having only one entrance/exit, is a factor that decreases our property values.

Unfortunately, this should not be an issue. Having a medical condition, it makes me really nervous to know that it could possibly take emergency response up to 10 minutes longer to get to me, should I need the help. The road should be open for the safety, convenience, and peace of mind for all those who use it, whether it is daily, visiting a resident, or for emergency use by police, fire, and ambulance.

We are looking into possibly moving to the Pine Grove neighborhood. At this time not having an additional entrance/exit and access to the neighborhood is heavily weighing on our decision and causing us to look elsewhere.
# 195:

Need two entrances for emergency vehicles. Opening the South entrance will reduce the fire response time by approx 10 min.

This situation is pretty stupid, move the barricade. One good thing about it was how it rallied all of us Pine Grovers together to fight against it. It was always funny seeing the latest obstacle that a neighbor had dismantled. Can we get one golf hole installed by the pool area that would be amazing!

Not only is this an inconvenience when traveling in and out of the neighborhood it is also major safety concern. As of right now there is only one entrance which means only one way in and out for emergency vehicles. This could in turn delay the response time in the event of an emergency. I am certain that everyone would agree that every second counts.

I have had a medical emergency that required an ambulance. This was before the road was closed. I found out that if the road had been closed at the time and the ambulance had to detour I may not have lived. This is a life or death issue!
# 186:

For safety reasons our subdivision needs to have two entrances/exits. I would hate for something terrible to happen and emergency personnel be delayed because of a political standoff between the developer and the city.

As a health care provider, I know that even a few minutes can mean the difference between life and death in an emergency. This is the difference between the time it takes to get to my address from the entrance at 101st & Stayley and the entrance at 96th St. & I-435. We are asking the city to resolve whatever petty differences they may have with the developer and open the south entrance to Pine Grove neighborhood.

With all of the work they've done to keep those barricades up it would have taken little more effort to just fix the three feet up messed up road! Not to mention, all of that mud in our neighborhood is not pretty and obviously isn't going to help the value of our homes if it looks like crap.

We need the South side open for traffic. One way in into our neighborhood can cause a delay in emergency vehichles getting to us in case of emergency. Having barricades set up in the neighbor also just isn't a "pretty" sight. Please remove these and finish the south side entrance!

I am tired of seeing all the mud and dirt that now covers N Lawn. In addition, why would we have a large sign advertising the neighborhood at the S entrance when it is blocked? It makes our subdivision look bad. It also takes additional time for EMS and fire to get to my house! If the main entrance were blocked or unaccessable, how would we be able to leave the neighborhood?

Being a high school student myself, I feel that this barricade is just a hassle and has nothing but negativity coming from it. It wastes time not to mention gas which is extra money I could be saving. At night the main curvy road has no street lights and as everyone knows in our neighborhood...that area has numerous deer. My parents shouldn't have to worry about a deer popping out at my car or me not being able to control my car in the snow on such a curvy road. On the other hand what if there was an emergency?...well i guess that emergency would just have to hold off for 5 extra min. because we have a useless barricade blocking our neighborhood. No one will want to buy houses and the development will never grow because no body will want to keep wasting their time and money going around a curvy road. And if the city is concerned about the road getting fixed well then I have news for them...no body cares! If it really starts to bug us, as a community I am sure we are pretty darn capable of making the road tolerable (which it already is). As put by a teenager---the barricade is STUPID!

This is a no brainer. Why the street was closed after being able to use it for so long is just plain insane. There is no reason why that intrance should be closed. I visit my sister in that neighborhood. Whats wrong with it being open? I tell you what is wrong someone downtown would not have anything to do all day long if it was open.

Having to drive to the main entrance of the neighborhood and drive around all the curvy streets to get into the neighborhood is very dangerous at night and when there is bad weather (ice, snow, rain, sleet). For a neighborhood this size for safety sake there should be more than one entrance.

This is simply ridiculous. The main issue here is that GPS devices, MapQuest, etc...direct you to the 101st St entrance. I know that this technology is used by emergency response vehicles/dispatchers as well. The issue is not that someone might have to go a little out of the way to visit a friend or attend a Pampered Chef party. The issue is that someone's neighbor, friend or loved one could very well die due to a lack of expedient access to emergency services guaranteed us by our city and payed for by our tax dollars. God forbid something like this should happen. The legal aftermath of such a catastrophe would surely find all involved in litigation, criminal and civil, leading to the destruction/collapse of careers and families. This is a VERY serious issue, and should not be taken lightly. The audacity of the city to actually post officers at this entrance to cite residents/visitors for using the road is way beyond my comprehension. I wonder how the officers find the entrance? GPS perhaps?

Through church, I do a lot of service with Lynette Justesen and family, Laura Lee and family, and Tiffany Grady and family. All of these people live in the Pine Grove subdivision, and it is very inconvenient to get to their home by taking the round about way. I would appreciate it if the back entrance would be opened up.

#1 concern: The accessibility of emergency personel to our home. #2 concern: Why was this development approved by city officals? #3 concern: Why did the head of North Kansas City School District testify that adding any traffic to Stanly Road would be dangerous, yet after the tax payers approve taxes for new schools, the same school district builds the schools on Staley Road and the city doesn't have any problems with this. I quess it is all political. In 2004, the developer informed the home owners that the west entrances would be completed by fall of 2004. Later the developer said that the south and west entrances would be completed by spring of 2005. #4 concern: Neither Kansas City or developer are doing right by the residents of Pine Grove.
