Rastafarians use cannabis as a religious sacrement. Why can't others? Some religions use paote, strict diets, fasting, etc...As long as the followers are there of their own free will and no one is being harmed, then exemptions should be made.

If one religion is valid then ALL religions are valid! Many religions use or have used cannabis as part of their beliefs, rituals and rites. I for one have and will again. I wish you success on this petition -- your Ministry deserves the best.

I have bad nerves - the doctor had me on Prozac, Lithium, and other medications to help -- they don't! Prozac and similar drugs are a farce [they don't work]. And Lithium is very dangerous. I use cannabis instead to calm my nerves it's all natural and works. Funny, the government would rather us to us something dangerous like Lithium or to spend your hard earned cash or the taxpayers money on useless drugs like Prozac instead of natural healing. It's time our American Government grows up and pays attention to the facts instead of believing in fiction.

It's really silly that tobacco & alchol are legal but cannabis isn't. I don't hear about anyone smoking cannabis and driving causing car wreaks where people die or getting cancer from it. I use it for my migraines, and it helps alot. But TPTB would rather people suffer with them or buy super expensive meds that a lot of us can't afford in order to get rid of our migraine, than to grow a little weed for our own use.

As part of my belief, I use cannabis quite regularly along with friends and sharing possibly the greatest moments of my life whilst using it appropriately.

Cannabis has helped me gain an insight of just how wrong the Law can be. There's no point in saying 'The law is the law' because you couldn't possibly know whether God (if he or she exists) wanted people to stop doing what they think is wrong because of some morally corrupt politicians saying that the police will arrest you if you do this, etc.

As a Pagan, worshipper of nature, I use many herbs in my religious doings. Cannabis is one such herb. I can't get arrested for buring sage to cleanse a room, why can I get arrested for practicing the same part of my religious belief when I use just one specific herb? How could one herb that does so much good, be illegal? I'll tell you why. Because Big Brother can't stand being left out of the profit! Greedy S.O.B's!!

I suffer from manic depression and cannabis helps me remain on an even keel. I used to take several different medications for this disorder. My finances and my physical and mental health benefit from cannabis ever so much more than presciption drugs. And there's no side effects for me!!

This is is a profound spiritual belief of mine that I have carried around with me for a long time. I am a leader of "The Weed Revolution" of over 600+ members who seems to have recently been cut off from the search query n facebook. It is http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5323600746 which is a working direct link. I would be honoured to become a part of this faith, profess it and excercise my ability to lead in it's ways. I truly believe marijuana is divine then I truly believe in this religion.

Marijuana is as much part of me as my own soul. It is natural, and faith based around it is a wonderful thing that should be allowed to happen. This should be our RIGHT to use marijuana and that is my true belief. This is consulted through mind body and soul, thoroughly.

For over a hundred and fifty years various researchers have been trying to bring attention to the cannabis references within the Old Testament. "Like the ancient Greeks, the Old Testament Israelites were surrounded by marijuana-using peoples. A British physician, Dr. C. Creighton, concluded in 1903 that several references to marijuana can be found in the Old Testament. Examples are the "honeycomb" referred to in the Song of Solomon, 5:1, and the "honeywood" in I Samuel 14: 25-45" (Consumer Reports 1972). Creighton felt that in " the O.T. there are some half-dozen passages where cryptic references to hachish may be discovered... But that word, which is the key to the meaning, has been knowingly mistranslated in the Vulgate and in the modern version, having been rendered by a variant also by the LXX in one of the passages, and confessed as unintelligible in the other by the use of a marginal Hebrew word in Greek letters" (Creighton 1903).
