Save the Heart of La Jolla Shores. Stop proposed Los Angelization and multi-storied decay of Avenida De La Playa

Save the Heart of La Jolla Shores

Target:
La Jolla Shores Permit Review Committee

Yes, I agree. The proposed three-story Whitney Building, in the heart of La Jolla Shores, must be stopped. This project will destroy the ambience of the La Jolla Shores community. More importantly, it will set a precedent for future high rise development. Take note: developers are lining up behind Bob Whitney now. They want to make La Jolla Shores their next grand three-story redevelopment zone!

We, the undersigned citizens of La Jolla Shores and La Jolla, oppose the current proposed design of the three-story Whitney Building in the La Jolla Shores.  This design fails to reflect the community and architectural character of the Shores, due to its significant bulk and scale, which substantially departs from that of the predominantly quaint one and two-story structures in the area.  Such a building, on the most important mixed-use plot in the La Jolla Shores Commercial zone, would significantly undermine the architectural unity of the area, and set a precedent for future large-scale development, leading to the loss of our unique and casual seaside environment, community character and quality of life.

I don't want to visit the Shores and see tall buildings. La Jolla Shores should remain a village not a metropolis.

Hey no no. Do not proceed with such projects pls, it will ruin and kill the beautifull sense of La Jolla shores, and La Jolla. I spent 3-4 years of my life living in La Lolla near UTC center, and was studying in National University (Oct 97 to June 2001). I used to drive to Down Town La Jolla and its shores every 2-3 days to spend few hours relaxing, walking if not studying along its beaches, and watching seals. Ah, by all means I miss those years so much. An awesome time of my life was in La Jolla, CA.

The scale of the proposed building is massive and incompatible with the village.

I am in agreement with the idea that we do not need a high rise develpment in the Shores. Not only will it destroy the ambiance, it will increase traffic. which is already almost impossible in the summer.

La Jolla Shores is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful, welcoming and memorable places on earth to recreate! I have ventured all over the world from Bombay to Bali - there are few places that have the "neighborhood character" of "The Shores". It is time to take a stand against developers like Bob Whitney. The proposed high rise Whitney Buildng is out of scale and must be stoppped now.

Let me know what us needed - Weekends are best!

The camel's nose of development is the problem with this project. It will open the floodgates to development that will destroy a special corner of the world.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” Jesus Christ in John 5:24 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." I don't think that we should be adding any more development to the shores. It's beautiful and it's uniqueness will be destroyed.

Ask me. However I can help, I will :)

SO much of California has been overtaken by developers that I believe it is important to preserve what we can of the undeveloped land.

san diego has already lost many of it's treasures to developers; old town, the cove movie theatre in La Jolla, the old spaghetti factory, the psychic eye. This city won't be very special soon.

I am concerned it may set a precedent for the beggining of future developments not in character with La Jolla Shores, or the village of La Jolla, in general.

I live in La Jolla and want to see what's left of character preserved.

I might contribute a small amount financially for legal fees to stop this.

Many years ago, I went around with a petition to keep 939 from being built in La Jolla. Sadly, developers were allowed to go ahead, forever ruining the La Jolla shore line. Let's prevent another albatross.

I knew La Jolla when is was a caring little village. Now because of what they have done, this is no longer the case. Yet I refuse to leave, because I love it here. I find my quite places & moments when it was like it use to be. I will not like to see this take place at the shores. Teresa

How can you we count on you to help save the heart of La Jolla Shores? Any thing I can do as for as to devote my time to help. I will. Teresa

I have lived in the Shores area for over 40 years (since I was 4!). I have strong feelings of protection for my lovely community. We are the caretakers for future generations. The decisions to preserve a little slice of paradise will be our legacy.
