Animal rights groups are battling against ranchers and the government over a new proposal to start euthanizing wild horses.
An estimated 33,000 wild horses are roaming around in 10 western states.
Instead of euthanizing and slaughter, there could be better ways to deal with this. Such as birth control or tax breaks for large landowners willing to let the horses run on their lands.

Managing wildlife is not the same as killing wildlife because they are inconvenient or expensive. It sounds like the Bureau needs to remember what their original purpose was and start acting on it. It you can't do that, then we need to find people with a heart. People who will do the right thing and listen to the people they serve, not just the ranchers and the mineral rights people.

The wild horse represents America and what we stand for "Freedom." The wild horse has earned the right to roam free and be protected doing so. "Wild Horse Annie" dedicated her life to protect the wild horse and finally got The Wild Horse and Burro Protection Act of 1971 passed. But now the BLM wants to label America's wild horses as feral to get around that law. These horses are not feral-they weren't born in captivity, neither were their foals. It is time for the BLM to honor the law that was passed in 1971 and repel the deceptive Burns Act. Please save the Wild Horse the true American Beauty.

If it Human error that allowed this over population it is the mental accuity of human ingenuity that will find a resolve. Contraception for population control, government issued tax breaks for those who adopt these magnificent creatures allowing them to roam their property ..Grand scale euthansia is not a natural process of selection. We must seek alternatives to this move towards the extinction of these great creatures. You need only to look into the eyes of a horse once, TO KNOW.

Our country has used horses and burros throughout our history for work, transportation, sport, pets, and brought us to where we are today. Now that we don't need them as in the past they are just discarded like garbage. I don't understand how people can be so cruel. No wonder our country is in the mess it's in. There is no compassion for anything or anyone.

The wild horse or "mustang" is a symbol of America - not just the western states either, but our country and its hard-won freedoms - that were partly won and greatly assisted by the horse. The fact that we have wild horses running free SHOULD be a blessing - not a curse, and the fact stands that: there are so many, many more cattle on these ranges - that are there for the sole purpose of human consumption! It is time to stop the greed - and stop eating so much meat - this is a huge part of the problem as well. Horses need to be killed so that there is more room for the cattle, so that there is more Meat for the people? This is wrong, period. There are much healthier diets to follow. Let these horses live - I urge you.
