We need places like this so I can refer patients to
It give's people a place to go when there are no meeting's happening . A place to meet other people who are in the same boat , which give's them a chance to support you & you a chance to support them ,
It will promote awareness, openmindedness, and maybe instill the need to do more. What is enough? Is that how I want to live my life? Just good enough? No, I want to go to any length necessary to stay clean, be truly happy and do whatever I can so that no addict ever need die again.
We need to provide a safe, non-confrontational place for people to find encouragement and strength.
Hamilton needs people that are passionate and relentless about making our world and communinities better places to live and work in. The Serenity Cafe is the manifastation of this type of passion and effort. It is an idea worth pursuing.
As noted above...being "SAFE", it can offer an attractive alternative to to the "street" for those who for whatever reason may not have access to other safe (treatment) facilities etc.
cause there a lot of addict in hamilton that need this place like all other city need it
More addicts not using and seeng it being done.
Giving people trying to get away from the drug using people, a safe place to find help and hang out.
I think it will do wonders for the downtown core.It will start bringing people together to help each other and education themselves to take care of themselves knowing there is help out there and people really do care.
Anywhere... somewhere... PLEASE!!
Any one that's in the postition of trying to recover needs a place of non-descrimination and relief to be able to accomplish what they need to do. If friends and relatives are able to be present that helps that much more.
A place for people in recovery to network and seek more recovery. Unity through fellowship & program.
The Hamilton core had a coffee shop that was open to the public and alot of people in recovery would go there after meetings to meet and share. The Serenity Cafe would provide this again and be beneifical to alot of people.
Need a place to go & spend my $ where theres no alcohol &/or drugs. It can attract younger people to a new way of life.
How do you see this Cafe benefiting the downtown core of Hamilton?
Hamilton is plagued with crack dealers and crack and pill junkies --- Most addicts don't evne know of a better way - a way to change their lives -- it's time to invest in the hurting people of this city
The core of Hamilton is, well, to but lightly...pretty nuts. Drugs are always easily accessable and triggers everywhere for the new commer. Knowing that there's a safe place to go for a cup of Joe, if even just until your bus comes...makes a huge difference. Thanks:>)
Provides a place for the target audience to go - that is "in their neighbourhood". Will be more likely to go to the cafe if it is easily accessible.
It will be a visible presence to the addicts out there that do not know there is another way to live. That they too can recover from addiction. And they can have a safe place to hear the message of recovery.
Hamilton would do well to have an establishment of this type in its core, promoting clean and sober living.
These people who seek and find their path to recovery will become productive members of society instead of burdens to it.
It would give many people a place to go that is non-threatening, a place to help them grow. There is a need in Hamilton, as well as in other major cities

this issue is important to me because as a recovering addict it offers me the hope of connecting with other recovering addicts to share in commaradery, and to reinforce my belief that I'm not alone in my struggle to stay clean there is strength in numbers..... I see this cafe as benefit to the downtown area as a place where people can go and sit back enjoy the atmosphere, served by people who were once frowned upon who are now acceptable, responsible and productive members of society. Hopefully we may serve someone who is still in active addiction and just maybe that person will get that glimmer of hope, that they too, can change their lives around if they see that one can enjoy a life without drugs |
I think it would help alot of people who are suffering from addiction and perhaps reach more people to find recovery.
I believe that people with mental health and addictions recover faster when they are in an environment that promotes wellness, and have the chance to surround themselves with people who have either recovered from addictions or survived the mental health system. There are a lot of people suffering in Hamilton, and I think that the serenity cafe is the ideal solution.
There are very few resources available which can function as a gateway to real help for those who need and desire help. The need is growing constantly while the availability of gateway resources remains limited. By offering aid at a critical juncture I also below that more intensive and lengthier treatment can be avoided.
