July 16, 2008 Lucy Dye Johnson was murdered in her home and then set on fire. She was 15 weeks pregnant with a healthy little boy. After six months of an extensive investigation an arrest was made for Michael Lane Mead. He was arrested January 9, 2009. Since his arrest he has had three bond hearings; the first two were denied and was told that he would never have enough money to get out, the third hearing Judge Richard Boner set him a bond of 650,000.00 and with this he has more than seven teen counties that he can roam without a curfew. He is required to wear a ankle bracelet that WILL NOT be monitored by this county. The monitoring will be by a company in South Carolina and will only send a report to the DA's office every three days! I know a lot can happen in three days. The D.A. has showed an overwhelming amount of evidence to keep him incarcerated.  As of 3/5/09 Michael Lane Mead appeared in court for a hearing on the decision of the death penalty. The judge agreed and will allow for the DA to pursue the death penalty.

UPDATE: He has posted bond and is now out free with a bracelet on his ankle! Again he is out!!

Prior to his arrest he was arrested for stalking James Spelock (Lucy Johnson's sons father) and during his arrest told the Fort Mill Police Department that the would find James Spelock Floating in the River. This was documented. He also stabbed Mr. Spelocks tires and made continuous  calls threatening him.

While he has been incarcerated 18 plus women have came forth signing sworn documents about his abuse to them ranging from rape to emotional abuse. Their are many more women that are afraid to speak out. These women that have spoken are now going to be listed as people for him to not contact. These women have lived with this fear and are now being listed for him to get out.

Michael Mead is already a convicted Felon. During a search of his home the police found a stolen gun (felons are not to have fire arms). During his first bond hearing he turned to Lucy's mother and mouthed something which was assumed to be a threat and was charged with contempt of court.

Lucy was a single mother of a 7 year old beautiful girl and a 6 month old little boy. (at the time of her murder) She was also 15 weeks pregnant with Michael Mead's son. She was an E.R. nurse at a close by hospital. Both of her children are now living with family. These two sweet little children will never be able to feel their loving mothers arms again, hear her sweet comforting voice, or smell that familiar smell of their mother. The 6 month old little boy will never have the chance to remember her. The seven year old will have to live with the memory of her mother being murdered and all the facts of it. (because of the media she knows all about it) These children lost their mother, their home, their little brother, and their security of their mother, along with now being separated from each other to live with their fathers. Now the man that is being tried for their mothers murder is getting out on bond, being able to walk the streets, and live his life with luxury. While they are still mourning their mother.

Michael Mead is facing the death penalty and has been set bond... He has made numerous threats and harmed so many women.... And he is going to be out to do as he wishes....
 Please keep all your daughter, wives, sister, and all other women in close contact and away from this man! And please help us to keep him from committing this horrific act all over again by  signing this petition.
