Stop Charging the Sea Shepherd

Stop Charging the Sea Shepherd "Steve Irwin"Moorage Fees

Target:
Lord Mayor Campbell Newman

Recently the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin
was forced to leave Melbourne when the berth that the ship had been
using for free for three years was suddenly changed to a $59,000 a
month moorage bill. In Brisbane the ship is being forced to pay over
$400 a day for moorage.

Meanwhile
the Japanese whaling fleet has just returned from the North Pacific
where they murdered 211 whales including 100 Sei whales, 59 Piked
whales, 50 Bryde%u2019s whales and 2 Sperm whales. All these species are
either endangered or threatened under international lists on endangered
and threatened species.

Despite the extra financial burden of
outlandish mooring fees and rising fuel costs, the Sea Shepherd
Conservation Society will be returning to the Southern Ocean Whale
Sanctuary to do what should be done in a whale sanctuary %u2013 protecting
whales.

Please stop charging the Sea Shepherd mooring fees. The Sea Shepherd is an "angel" on waters looking out for one of God's creatures that is essential to our ecosystem and the health of this planet. Charging the Sea Shepherd such a high cost makes it so much more difficult to save the whales and ultimimately, it will hurt all of us. Thank you for your time in reading my letter. I believe that if they had a heart they might look deep deep down inside it and see if some where there was a part of them that would respect Steves beliefs and what he stood for. Also that Australia Zoo is not a bottomless pit of money and that they need this morring, in order to carry on their amazing work to help save the defenceless species of the world.

i believe that the steve irwin and its crew are doing a stirling job. they are providing a service that can never be fully appreciated and the fact that they are being charged such a ridiculous rate for moorage is a disgrace. they are true heroes and should be provided grace in the amount of money they have to pay when they are the only real team that care about our beautiful whales and protecting them from a horrendous death and inevitably extinction!!!

Why is it that big organization and goverments that put whales on the endangered species list, does not follow-up on their own rules and laws, and/or support the Sea Shephard in their quest of trying to safe our whales.

Please support the efforts of this NON-PROFIT environmental group to stop whaling in OUR Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary! Every accommodation should be made to them.

Why is a Non profit org being charged fees??? Wouldnt it be a tax write off for the goverment not to charge them fees?

Lord Mayor Campbell Newman: The crew of the Sea Shepherd ship, the Steve Iwin, deserve the appreciation of all people who ae concerned with the preservation of the earth's creatures. They should be helped in their endeavors, not hindered. Mooring fees should not be charged (especially such excessive ones) as a way to help this valiant group who put life and limb on line to prevent those who are harvesting whales illegally under the guise of "research." Thank you. Phyllis Fullmer

The Sea Shepard is one of the few organizations who are risking life and limb to save animals and the planet. They should be given a medal for their efforts, not fines. This is shameful.

Please stop destroying our planet, ocean, by your reckless whaling practices. If you don't there will be consequences for all of mankind. We will NOT stop and we will NOT allow this!

Stop charging the Steve Irwin "Moorage Fees". Take a stand against "run-away" government and help the group that mans this ship. Governments made a weak pretext that they were helping the whales with their laws full of loopholes. In reality, they were only trying to appease conservationists while providing loopholes to those who commit whale slaughter for private gain. You and I and everyone knows, this research thing is just a smokescreen/loophole to allow commercial whaling to continue. Be a hero and help the crews of the Steve Irwin. Give them their money back.

Lets all use a little common sense, why don't we just make it illegal to kill whales for any reason including research. Also, when we find someone doing this, allow people like the Sea Shepherd to take the offenders into custody.
