Currently the Arch Diocese of Los Angeles does not pay into the State Unemployment system. This petition is asking the Arch Diocese to start paying into the system so that when employees lose their job they will have some financial stability while seeking employment elsewhere.
Currently the Arch Diocese of Los Angeles does not pay into the State Unemployment system. This petition is asking the Arch Diocese to start paying into the system so that when employees lose their job they will have some financial stability while seeking employment elsewhere.
We the undersigned would like you to begin paying into the California State Unemployment program, so that when an employee is not rehired they have some support while seeking new employment. Thank you for your consideration.
We signed the "Los Angeles Catholic Arch Diocese Employees Rights" petition!

My friend became unemployed and was told she was inelligable for unemployment. She is a single mother with two young children. It was the sadest, hardest, time in her life. Thankfully she was able to get a job within a few months, but for those few months she did suffer. As did her kids.

When I lost my job with a Diocesan school in June 2007, I was stunned to find out that after 13 years of full time service I was ineligible to receive unemployment benefits because the Diocese, as a religious organization was not required to pay into the unemployment fund. I would like to see this changed so that those in the future are not faced with the same hardships I have had to endure. Thank you
