Voluntary ID cards for British Nationals in Spain

The British Ambassador in Spain has already shown himself aware and sympathetic towards the problems encountered by British Nationals resident in Spain since the E.U. directive which forbade Spain to issue residency cards to residents of other E.U. countries.

Given the proposals for the introduction of residency cards in the U.K., the British Embassy in Spain is raising the issue with the British Government with the possibility that the cards might be issued for British Nationals resident abroad.

To this end we are aiming to collect as many signatures as possible in order to forward them to the British Ambassador so he can use them as support in this issue.

Please add your signature and forward the link to anyone you know who may be interested, including - as well as individuals - any expatriate associations, press, blogs or websites.
We the undersigned petition you our British Ambassador in Spain to mediate with the UK Government on our behalf to issue National Identity cards on a voluntary basis to British Nationals resident in Spain.

You have  already shown yourself to be aware and sympathetic towards the problems encountered by British Nationals resident in Spain since the E.U. directive which forbade Spain to issue residency cards to residents of other E.U. countries and we hope that you continue to bring this matter to the notice of the UK government in order that it should be successfully resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you for taking time to read this letter and to help us with our difficulties.
