Harsher Punishments For Animal Abusers

Harsher Punishments For Animal Abusers

Target:
Honourable Donna Faragher MEd(Hons) BA(Hons) GradDipEd JP MLC Minister for Environment; Youth
Sponsored by:

Every signature on this petition will be used to pressure the Western Australian Government to enact harsher punishments for animal abusers.

The punishment (or lack thereof), handed down to animal abusers cannot even be described as a 'slap on the wrist'. These morally and ethically bankrupted people and businesses are being enabled by the law to treat animals in any manner they wish and walk away from courts laughing (granted they even get there), and will continue to do so until laws stop them. There are no consequences for lessening the quality or taking an animal's life. These people demonstrate the absolute ugliest in humanity. What kind of human are you when you have no regard for another's life?

Ask yourself why, in a democratic, first world nation like Australia, does our government not place animal cruelty in high regard? Why do our law makers believe their pain and suffering is not worth adequate punishment or justice? The efforts of the thousands of dedicated volunteers and staff of animal rights, welfare, rescue and rehabilitation societies in Australia and across the world are in vein; these efforts should be focused toward prevention, not a cure.

This petition is aimed not only at punishing the reprehensible individuals who are cruel to animals; this petition is supporting the end of all modes of cruelty, such as live exporting, pig, puppy and battery hen farms, any many more forms of cruelty carried out by commerical entities.

On behalf of all abused, neglected and animals in need, thank you for taking a step towards enabling animals to have more than just an existence - but a safe, happy and healthy life. By signing this petition you are giving animals a voice, regaining their rights and breaking down the shield protecting the monsters who abuse them.

The minute you take now to sign this petition may well just save a life...

We the undersigned, citizens and visitors of Western Australia, petition the state to enact harsher laws, enforceable against any person or commercial entity found guilty of neglecting, abusing and/or intentionally killing any domesticated or wild animal in the state of Western Australia.

The current situation allows people and businesses who abuse, neglect or purposefully kill any wild or domesticated animal, to be treated with unjustifiable leniency; very rarely do animal abusers receive punishment to the full extent of the law. Many are not punished at all.

We believe this situation is unacceptable and must change immediately. Laws which enable mandatory sentencing for severe cases and increases in the current finable amounts, jail term lengths and animal ownership bans must be carried out in order to achieve a just and equitable remedy for crimes committed against animals. This change is absolutely necessary to impose consequences on those who do offend, aid the prevention of offenders from recommitting, and act as a deterrent from people committing the act initially.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to your reply.

The punishments we have now on animal cruelty is NOTHING.. We NEED to do something about if the Government didnt want animal abuse/ cruelty to be going on then they would LAY DOWN THE LAW!!! HARD i was recently on a website and 2 teenage boys set an alive cat on fire and got away with just a $400 fine which is dispicable. So i have dedicated the rest of my life to change things and be the one who is there 4 them when they cant speak up!! so im gonna be there 4 them when they need me most if we dont have to put up with things like that then theres no way in hell they should just coz u cant hear what there goin through day after day, night after night.

Animal abusers should be treated like human murderer's. humans are NOT so worthy as we think. If anything we are the disease to this world. All we do is destroy everything. Innocent animals have a RIGHT TO A GOOD LIFE. Abusing, starving, and toruring is NOT a good life. NO human has a right to do any such horrid thing. Humans who abuse, starve, torture, or do anything bad to animals SHOULD BE SHOT ON SIGHT, THEY DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE.
