The word "daddy" is not defined by whether or not a man has a biological child. You can never produce a child and be daddy, likewise you can have 20 kids and never be a "daddy" A Daddy is a true man who cares for his child.

I lived in Michigan for many years, and always had my rights with my child, when the country took a down hill turn on jobs I was forced to move to Kentucky to find work. At this time the mother took me to court saying I only gave the child a Hot dog a day, and since I could not afford the attorney fees, she won. Of course I still pay child support but not be able to see my child.. This is crazy, everyone knows if you feed a child a HOT DOG A DAY the child would be in health issues. My rights with my child has been taken. We need this petition and all petition that betters the rights with the father.

I am a mother and an attorney and I firmly believe in equal rights for both mother and father. I am recently divorced and remarried to a man who is divorced. While I cannot say my ex husband and I agree on much (anymore or better said, lately) we do agree on always putting our kids first. Unfortunatley my husband's ex wife manipulates the court system (until he finally fought back). A mother is not the better parent simply because she is the mother and vice/versa. Children do not ask to be born and we owe them as much stability, consistency and security as we can give. I believe that all children of divorce benefit the most from shared time. In fact kids who only spend every other weekend with dad never really "settle in" more contact is necessary to foster a healthy relationship. This goes both ways however, father or mother, whomever is the non custodial parent seeking more time must be willing to work with the custodial parent and make transitions smooth and easy. Neither parent should ever bad mouth the other or the other's new spouse. In most states judge's now lean towards equal or almost equal time shared between both parents (if both are fit to parent)

I would very much like to see Fathers with the same rights as mothers most often they are over looked as the better parent.Just because we give birth does not make us the best parent each case is different.I have 2 nephews that are way more responsible then the mothers and both of these men are subject to standard prcedure.This is not fair in todays world.I hope we can give them what they deserve.

I think it unbelieveable the amount of BS you have to go throw being a single father. There is no equal rights for father wanting to be a part of there childs life. Im sick of having no say and all pay. Im treated like a weekly daycare by his mother and a two week check. i didnt leave the relationship and i never asked for this life for myself or my son.The courts inable my sons mother to have sole custody unless i fought! im still paying lawyer fees. I only have my son two days a week. im not a deadbeat dad. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!!!!THE COURTS ARE DISCRIMINATING FATHER AND INABLEING MOTHERS THATS ONLY CARE ABOUT THE NEXT CHECK INSTEAD OF HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE WITH THE FATHER TO. I am a stay home father that has lost his children because I stay home. My ex wife makes over 100k yearly and works in retail 6 days a week with oddball hours. I Have been disabled since May 2008 and have been a victim of domestic violence. Now the magistrate orders me to leave the residence and only have visitation rights and my ex will just throw them in daycare somewhere and Iam on the street eventhough I have been the primary caregiver. I know Iam not the only father to experience this. Is this "in the best interest of the child" These magistrates are so backwards in their thinking. But men are not a protected class and survive the rational basis test under the Constitution. Gender bias? No only when its a women issue. Men have no rights.

I'm James from Melbourne Australia, I believe children need the love that comes from both the mother and father women are hypocrits they believe in equality and I do too with regards to opportunity in the workplace and equal pay but women think they are the only ones to have custody of the children. I also believe that men have equal rights in the custody of their children in the event of a split in the marriage. In Melbourne Australia a man was not given equal custody this depressed him to the extent that he threw his 4 year old daughter of a bridge where and upon landing in the river she tragiclly died.

i am a father in need of help. my daughter was born jan 30. i was in her life up until mid march. baby mother has moved and i have been able to find her. I have a lawyer, and have been awarded my parental rights in court. I am suppost to get my daughter every wednesday as well as every other weekend. the problem i am having is that nor i or my lawyer have been able to find my baby mother to get ahold of her to get the papers to her stating this. She has moved since the court date, and i have not seen my daughter since march. I feel helpless and need help.

Loving and Devoted fathers, whether unwed or married should have parental rights. The Mother should not have all the rights just because she is the Mother. My Granddaughters Mother tried to commit suicide last week, she almost suceeded. Hello Iagree with this petition. I am a mother fighting to get my children back. I am having troubles with the courts and getting an attorney to help go to the county it is happening in without him/ her charging me alot. Its not fair for my childrens father has no say in the case and his rights dont even count. I have been battling this for 5 years. I hope this gets heard so other like myself can be treated fair. Thank you
