A home for Homeless Veterans in America's Heartland!!!

Target:
People of the United States, their Veterans, Congress, and the President of the United States
The only State in the United States that does not have a Domiciliary (home for homless Veterans) is Nebraska (America's Hearland).  This is just plain wrong!!!  Please sign a petition to locate a HOME for HOMELESS VETERANS in Nebraska.  There are 4 empty buildings on the Campus of the Lincoln VA Medical Center that could be used for Homeless Veterans.  All they need is a staff.  The staff could be made up of volunteers!!! They protected you!!! Couldn't we at least give them a warm place to stay and help them recover from drugs and alcohol in an environment where drugs and alcohol are not allowed?!?

We the undersigned recognize that Nebraska is the only state in the Union that does not have a VA run and organized Domiciliary (a place where Veterans who want to get clean and sober can go to recover and become productive members of society again).  Many agencies in Nebraska have applied for a government contract to meet this need for Veterans, but the private sector can not meet the standards required by the VA to house Veterans.  Therefore, we urge you to take action to urge the VA to build it's own facility in Nebraska or...adapt an un-used existing building to meet this need.  Thank you for your time and consideration.  These Veterans took up arms and lost legs and limbs for us.  They watched some of their brothers and sisters lose their lives for us.  We think it a small price to pay to nurse these men and women that defended us back to health.  http://elincoln.net/

This is important to me because our military defend our country and our civil liberties. Without our veterens, we would have had no one go be the first and return to tell their stories of how war effects them physically, mentally or spiritually. May GOD bless our veterens and the soldiers still in combat. Hopefully our government will bless the homeless veterens in providing a place each could call "home".

Not a veteren

This is becomimg a real issue with our veterans coming back from Iraq and because of PTSD not being addressed and other issues not being addressed they are ending up homeless. Something has got to be done to take care of our veterans after they come back from war!!

Our Veterans offer the ultimate price, they serve their country and perform their duties without a second thought. They take care of us, and in return we should be taking care of them.

It is so sad that this petition exists. This country owes a tremendous debt of gratitude for all who serve our country. Our government needs to stop bickering over petty and partisan issues and actually do something to honor and care for ALL of our veterans. For the lawyers in Washington who are in the business of creating and finding loopholes, the care would include providing homes for the homeless veterans in a way that they would no longer be any homeless veterans ever again.
