A Message To The Republican and Conservative Establishment.

Target:
The Republican Primary of 2008
This is a petition to the GOP, to Republicans and to Conservatives.  It is a message to them that my support of them will not last if they continue to attack social conservatives during the Primary only to seek their support for the General Election.

I will say that I am thankful that there atleast is one candidate who does support my social conservatives values and deeply rooted convictions, and that candidate is Mike Huckabee.  However I will also say that I am disgusted by all the attacks made against him by the Republican establisment and by many people in the media who claim to be conservative.

My comments here regarding these attacks are my own opinions and views regarding them, and are not nesscerily the views of anyone else.

For a few years now social conservatives have believed that they had a friend in certain media figures like Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, David Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingrahm, Ann Coulter and many others, but now during this Presidential Primary we have seen a great effort by these figures to attack Mike Huckabee who is the only candidate that we have who stands strong and consistent for our social conservative values.

Fox News constantly gave coverage to Rudy Giuliani's front runner status even long before any state held a vote.  Rudy Giuliani may have some really good views about the war on terror, but he is completely against the social conservatives on our issues.  Trusted conservative talk show hosts such as Sean Hannity knew this very well, yet still promoted Rudy Giuliani as someone we should vote for, and has stated repeatedly that he thinks that Rudy Giuliani is one of the most conservative candidates, while he does not say the same thing of Mike Huckabee.  In doing this, Sean Hannity sends the clear message that he thinks that economic policy and foreign policy are more important than social conservative values and morals including the prolife cause.  However if someone truly believes that abortion ends life, and has resulted in ending the lives of over 40 million people then how could they ever say that economic policy is more important?  If this is truly what they believe then how could they ever think of the prolife cause as anything less than an essential issue if not the most important issue by far?

Mitt Romney is one of the main candidates receiving all of the support and promotion of the Republican establishment.  I will say that I am thankful that Mitt Romney changed his position from being a social liberal who ran to the left of Ted Kennedy to someone who now is supposedly a social conservative.  However this man is seeking the office of President, and has already let social conservatives down even after his change by signing into law a health care bill that allows 50 dollar co-pays for abortion.  Two months after becoming prolife Mitt Romney appointed a pro-abortion judge.  Later he supported a lift on President Bush's ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, which now he has changed again to say that he is for it.  Six months after Romney changed to becoming prolife he publically told his state that he promised to maintain pro-abortion laws.  And this is only in regard to the prolife issue.  Mitt Romney has many other issues that social conservatives are concerned about as well.  As stated before I am happy that Mitt Romney changed his position regarding social conservative values, however I am unsure that he would stand firm for social conservative values given his record which seems chaotic and haywire.  The fact that there is so much for social conservatives to be concerned about in Mitt Romney's record yet the conservative media does not report this, and reports negative news against Mike Huckabee insted is clear evidence of their bias.

Fred Thompson has been one of the leading candidates in the attack of Mike Huckabee.  Fred Thompson has been so forward in his attacks against social conservatives that he has publically stated that this is a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican party.  Though Fred Thompson does have a somewhat prolife voting record, it is clearly biased, untrue and neglecting to tell the rest of the story to say that his record is 100 percent prolife.  Fred Thompson strongly supported McCain-Feingold even when most conservatives where trying to stop it.  As most prolife people know, McCain-Feingold would have prohibited pro-life organizations from being able to broadcast educating information regarding a cannidate's position on abortion.  Fred Thompson also does not support a prolife amendment to the constitution, so he is pro-choice on that issue.  It has also been reported by many that Fred Thompson worked as a lobbyist for pro-abortion organizations.  Fred Thompson is also against an amendment that would define marriage as being a union between one man and one woman, which concerns a lot of social conservatives.  Fred Thompson has been one of the most outspoken figures to claim that Mike Huckabee is not a real conservative.  This is because Fred Thompson thinks that economic policy and foreign policy is so much more important than the prolife cause and social conservative morals and values.

John McCain has a somewhat good prolife record, however it is not 100 percent at all.  John McCain insisted on supporting embryonic stem cell research and apparently still does.  John McCain is the one who gave us McCain-Feingold.  John McCain is very opposed to an amendment which defines marriage as being between one man and one woman.  With all of these concerns  John McCain is not someone who appeals to social conservatives.

It is clear that we only have one candidate running for President that has not downplayed the importance of social conservative morals and values and that one candidate is Mike Huckabee.  Yet the one candidate that we have that supports our values is the same candidate constantly being attacked by media figures who are supposed to be conservative.  Rush Limbaugh has used his radio show and his influence to try to attack Mike Huckabee, daily.  Rush Limbaugh has made it clear that his single issue is big money for the rich and for big business, and none for the working class.  David Limbaugh has attacked Mike Huckabee in much of the same way.  Ann Coulter jumped at an oppertunity to attack Mike Huckabee over a misunderstanding, yet showed clear bias by not attacking  Mitt Romney nor Fred Thompson dispite their liberal positions on social conservative issues.  Laura Ingrahm like Sean Hannity, has put traditional republican economic policy in front of the prolife movement and social conservative values.

Dispite all of these attacks, if someone actually did unbiased research for themself, they would see that not only is Mike Huckabee the only true social conservative candidate we have, but he is also better than they are when it comes to fiscal conservativism, and even foreign policy.  Their attack against him is because as Governer, he built better roads which they needed very badly, and he made schools and education better which was also needed badly.  These attackers take advantage of the uninformed and uneducated to get them to believe half-truths and slander against Mike Huckabee.  Because Mike Huckabee appeals to the working class, they consider this not Republican.  It is the business wing of the Republican party that has given us corruption, spending and possibly even a recession.

This petition is a message to political figures and commentators that we are fed up.  In 2004 I was glad to vote for President Bush to be relected, the President who received more votes than any other President so far.  But if any candidate wins the nomination other than Mike Huckabee, then expect that you will not be getting my vote this time.  End of story.  I am fully aware that democrats who are not social conservatives and have socialists tendencies may gain absolute power in this election, but I am not going to allow you to use that against me to force me to put down my social conservative values and morals and vote for a party that has betrayed me.

If you agree with this petition and share some of these same concerns then please add your name to it, to send a message to the Republican party and to conservative media.

If you want my vote for the Republican nominee in November, make sure that Mike Huckabee is on the ticket as presidential or vice-presidential candidate. This is the only way to get the vote of true conservative Christians.

I and my family will not support the Republican choice this election if Gov. Huckabee is not given at least the VP slot on the ticket.

My Grand Old Party sure threw me for a loop this time around! Whatever happened to its VALUES when it turned its back on the most conservative values candidate to come along in years, Mike Huckabee? Sorely disappointed in my Party, and in my so-called conservative media sources. So disappointed in them that I have stopped watching, reading, and listening.

It is also appearing the GOP is no longer for leass government but are Nationalists by the way they have carried one over the past 8 years. If the party does not step intot he Constitutionalist Shoes soon and that means NOW, this wil be hte last I will be supporting the Party. It is a full discrace the conduct of the RNC/GOP and far from being wise to continue to choose a cnadidate in the Primary, totally against all ethical conduct of thed Partties character. Sick, Sick, Sick!!!

Not only will you not get my vote if you do not select a true social conservative such as Mike Huckabee as your running mate - I will change my political party designation from Republican to Independant.

The Republican Party pretty much lost me when, during Bush's first term with majorities in the House and Senate, the GOP did not do what it said it would do short of one tax decrease, and that without either decrease in the size of government or spending. With a great platform to promote a socially conservative agenda, the GOP was all but silent and definitely not proactive. I was ready to declare independent until Mike Huckabee came onto the national scene. He gave me true hope in the my chosen political party for the first time ever. Finally, we had the real deal. Yet you not only marginalized and withheld support from him, but you acted as if you hoped that he would just go away. I'll remain a Republican just until the primary, so that I can have the pleasure of pulling the lever beside Mike Huckabee's name. After that, I don't have a horse in this race. Know that this is not the fault of Mike Huckabee. He has stayed true to his convictions with integrity, and his actions follow the content of his words. He would encourage me to back the apparent Republican nominee - for the good of the very party whose establishment has shown him such disrespect. I cannot in good conscience do that. The GOP has lost me on its own lack of merit and lack of integrity, after 35 years of continuous support.

If we are continually ignored I can see no other option than forming a strong third party and a total abandonment from the GOP.

I am disappointed with how fox news, Rush, Hannity, and other so-called conservative voices are in love with Mitt Romney who is not a social conservative and in my opinion support him because of the influence of his money and Bain Capital.

First the candidate of choice was Rudy, when he dropped out suddenly Romney was the man of the hour, despite his finding conservatism just before he ran for president. Never was the reporting "fair & balanced" on Huckabee. Each time he won, it was only because of evangelicals. Bull! He was the only true conservative. Now you ask us to unite & join in with McCain. Look at the votes that Huckabee is still receiving in recent primaries, even tho he has dropped out. We shall see just who unites! Do I want a Hillary or Obama in the White House? No! But neither do I appreciate you now asking me to not vote for someone who stands where I stand. Especially after your biased reporting probably caused him the nomination!

If more leaders actually did their research, they would find the many economic benefits they're looking for in the form of the true conservative family values movement. The only thing I disagree with in the previous statements is that of not voting. I believe I would be a poor steward of the democracy entrusted to me if I chose not to vote for the best candidate available. I am not prideful, nor foolish enough to stand by, not cast a vote, and thereby allow my nod to be given to some poser like Hillary Clinton or Obama. While I am extremely disappointed in my party and the so-called "conservative" media coverage on Huckabee, I cannot abandon the democracy so carefully entrusted to me. I find it very troubling to be in a place where I am having to choose between the lesser of 2 "evils". I'm not saying John McCain is evil, but he does have an evil stand on 2 very important social issues. May God have mercy on His people.

I agree 95%. However at this time, staying at home or writing in Governor Huckabee's name amounts to a vote for Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama who are far less pro-life than John McCain. We are in the middle of WWIII with the Islamo-fascists. We need a commander in chief who can deal with our dangerous world. God willing, John McCain will ask Governor Huckabee to be his running mate or offer him an important position in his cabinet; either alternative would help his chances of getting the nomination in 2012, since, at age 72, John McCain will probably be a one term president. God bless you all. God bless the United States.

I emailed the following to Fox News and several radio hosts. I am very disappointed in their dishonest reporting. Thought that you might be interested. Use any way that you desire. I have to say that I am very disappointed about Fox News' and many front men on radio for the Rebulican power brokers and establishment that have left me an my convictions, including my hope for the future of my children, with a continued dishonest approach to Mike Huckabee and discrdit his character and record. I am an active duty Naval Officer of over 28 years from Arkansas. I have watched Fox News and listened to Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh throughout this election cycle. You and they constantly introduce Mike Huckabee, and allow others to do the same, as the "Evangelical Candidate, Mike Huckabee". Given any opportunity to minimize him for his beliefs, you trumpet disparaging words as if it is a terrible thing to be transparent and to believe in God and walk in faith. Do not read me wrong. He is obviously proud of his relationship with God, which I do respect. He simply is so much more than that and your double standard is appalling. You did not introduce Mitt Romney as the "Mormon Candidate". I respect Mitt Romney and his right to walk in his faith. I am so tired of watching candidate after candidate stumble over their words when asked about what they believe. Character and integrity do not require pause and calculated thinking when communicating one's beliefs and convictions. Good for Mike for being a man of character and integrity. This is simply a poorly veiled attempt to paint this fine man of character as small and narrow minded. "Evangelical" is not a four letter word...neither is Mormon, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, etc. I simply have come to expect more out of Fox News and others and continue to be more and more disappointed. You have nailed him for immigration. Let me set you straight. The day that Bill Clinton took office as President, the busses filled with illegals were coming in one after the other as Tyson brought them in to work the chicken plants...no exaggeration. The town where my mother lives and works is now overwhelming populated by illegal Hispanics. The police arrest them, deport them, only to have them show up a few weeks later with a different name and a new ID card. The impact is catastrophic. There are hundreds of other towns across this country with the same story. In Arkansas, the flood gates were wide open until Huckabee entered office. In such matters, one can stop the tide but can't reverse it easily. Put the blame where it belongs! You keep saying that he is not a fiscal conservative. You point out that taxes went up during his time as Governor. This is fact. Let me now tell you what you either refuse to honestly report, or do not know because you did not do your homework before influencing millions. Mike Huckabee inherited a neglected state from corrupt Democrats that was in terrible disrepair. The roads were awful, as was much of the rest of the infrastructure. The school system was a joke. Corruption in law enforcement was rampant. He moved the state further up the national school performance rankings than any Governor in history. He cleaned up law enforcement. He created jobs and brought the roads and infrastructure into this century. He improved the State Parks and exponentially increased tourism to the state. The effect on those of us from Arkansas was minimal in the wallets, with an overall amazing increase in quality of life. Now tell me how else you turn the state around in the remarkable way that he did with no revenue? You simply can't. He inherited several ( over $600M ) million dollars in debt, and left at the end of his term with millions ( $500M) in surplus. He was able in the end to cut taxes as a result. The net result after he raised and then lowered taxes over an 8 year period was a net increase of .5%. He kept his promises and the people of Arkansas love him for it. Do not insult me by suggesting that I prefer him simply because I am from Arkansas. I prefer him because he is the man with the greatest character...which still is a prerequisite in my mind to hold the highest office in our great land. Personal integrity is something I refuse to compromise. In addition, he is the candidate with the greatest ideas on immigration, taxes ( The fair tax rules and brings our tax code back within the bounds of the Constitution...remember that whole taxation without representation thing? ), fiscal responsibility, government accountability, and the war on terrorism. You can't find dirt on him, no scandals to report, faithful to his wife, even through her fight for life with cancer soon after they were married, no changing his mind over time for political expediency, and consistent over a lifetime in conservatism principles, convictions, integrity, graciousness, and faithfulness. When did someone's strong assertion that they would sign a Sanctity of Life Ammendment and a Protection of Marriage Ammendment as President place them outside the circle of our Party. I checked the Republican Platform from the last election and found that these truths are still there. Did the Convention publish this as a smokescreen? Mike Huckabee is by far the most genuine conservative in this race in every category and he is in it to win. I agree that he likely can not. It is still his choice to chase his dreams. This is still America last I checked. You are personally responsible for the decision of many not to support him on grounds that are not an honest assessment of this man and on grounds that it was over as soon as Romney dropped out. You will deny this, but the spin you put on every bit of information that you report on this fine man has accomplished the agenda of sabotaging his campaign daily since he was allowed to be honestly assessed by the good people of Iowa and won handily. I listened to your various hosts and guests go on and on about some contrived alliance between McCain and Huckabee, based on phone calls from West Virginia, from callers that bought into this suggestion you provided...all without providing one shred of substantial evidence, yet espoused as fact and true. Conspiracy theory? What are you doing? I find this irresponsible. I respect your right to support your candidate of choice. For most of you that was clearIy Mitt Romney. That is your right and I respect your choice. I do not respect you doing so with dishonest rhetoric at the detriment of another candidate. I once thought that Fox news was my only venue for honest reporting. I am so disappointed, I simply cannot explain it in words. Please cover specifics of Mike Huckabee's record as Governor. Let the fine people of Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvasnia, and the other remaining states have the right to let their voice be heard and their vote counted. Report honestly. People do trust you, at least until they realize that they were duped. When someone gets the 1191 delegates needed, then you can declare it over. Until then, please put your soapbox back in the closet and quit trying to brainwash America. I am sure that I will receive no response to this letter. I do hope that I am wrong and that you will address these concerns. Please tell me where I am wrong. Please report these truths! Faryle G. Fitchue CDR USN

I still believe Mike Huckabee is the one that stands for what Republican has been known for in social conservativism. Unfortunately, Mike Huckabee has been most under-presented and mispresented. If his ideas are known as much as other candidates, then I am sure, he could have been the nominee.

I have read and agree with what has been said. I ran across a few mis-spelled words, but that is all. The view in this petition are the same thoughts that I have shared in many emails to many of the talk show hosts, columnists and commentators. I first supported Fred Thompson when I thought he supported the Fair Tax. When I heard he did not I attempted by emails to learn what he thought the problem was with the Fair Tax. After several attempts I rationalized Fred Thompson was beholden to the lobbyist and other influencial people. Then I remember Fred verbally attacking Huckabee on Gitmo and water boarding at the South Carolina debate. Fred Thompson attempted to put a liberal lable on Huckabee. As it turns out the reply Huckabee gave was inline with what was in the news, consideration to close Gitmo and outlaw water boarding, I still have the articles. I believe we need to keep Gitmo open and use water boarding when needed. Keep the detainees in Cuba and if our service men can can be water boarded in survival training then leave the option open for interrogation. Like the petition says Guilliani was the pick of the talk show hosts and Romney was second pick. The only time that Huckabee got any reconition was when he won a state or did well in a debate. Within a day he was forgotten. The job that Huckabee did for over ten years was never recognized. The fact that he supported / promoted many social conservative issues got very little recognition. The fact that Huckabee was a strong supporter of the Fair Tax in a time when our people, economy, businesses and governments could use this type of real change is down played to the point of frustration. I have come to the opinion that the government, GOP, Hollywood merged media, Washington DC bureacrats and lobbyist want more of the same for reason I cannot begin to understand. huckabee would not stand down for his beliefs and deserves a lot more credit and support from the Republican Party and the media. Huckabee received over three million votes in the primary elections and won most the southern states. Even then he got very little recognition. Huckabee is definitely a candidate that would have been good for the people, economy and government. I guess influential people were worried he would change Washington for the better. One day when it is too late just maybe Huckabee will be recognized for what he is. A truly Reagan Conservative whose boss is every citizen and all he really cares about is what is good for our country and its people. The first step is to pass the Fair Tax HR 25.

Further more - like Huckabee - when we say we will stand behind what we say, then believe it! You (media), kept asking Huckabee, "why are you still in the race?" over and over - the answer was always the same...His walk matched his talk! I guess that is what disappointed me so bad when I heard you all endorsing candidates that didn't match your talk or your written words...????????? I use to love "Fox News" - I haven't watched you in about 2 months! I use to think "Fox" was "Fair & Balanced" and became a "News Junkie" - This primary has given me a real eye-opener! - I'm FREE! Broken hearted but free! D K Newton

John McCain is no Ronald Reagan. McCain is no Geo. W. Bush. McCain is no Dwight D. Eisenhower. McCain is a sex scandal waiting to happen. Was McCain involved in Gov. Spitzer's prostitution ring? McCain is an Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton impeachment scandal waiting to happen. McCain is the leader in how to commit ethics violations and not get caught, except he did get caught. McCain said that he and Kerry DID talk about McCain becoming a traitor and switching parties and running against Geo. W. Bush in 2004 as Kerry's VP. I'd like to hear all the details about that conversation!

I remained open during this election season just to learn more about the process itself. What an eye opener! I could not believe (having been a Democrat most of my life) that the Republican party who always spoke of faith, family, and freedom would do this to Mike Huckabee. He had my vote as a black female over the age of 50 person who just wanted to see a candidate that really would bring stability to a country gone too liberal for even the liberals. Mike Huckabee was a voice of reason and he truly had an effect on all people, not just Republicans. To see you do this to a member of your own party for the likes of John McCain, what a shame (and a sham)!

Mike is superior to any other candidate. The media bias is unconscienable, the GOP elite is demeaning and despicable in their ignorance of Huckabee, and I am soooo looking forward to Huckabee in 2012!

Governer Mike Huckabee represents true conservative ideal that President Ronald Reagan stood for social, economical, and international affairs, that made him one of the greatest leader in this century!

The media's support of Romney has be completely incomprehensible to me. He is a "pretty boy" with lots of money, but he's like Bill Clinton. He looks at what he thinks will get him elected and morphs into that type of candidate. Fortunately we won't have to find out what he would morph back to if he got elected. Mike Huckabee accomplished many wonderful things in Arkansas. He just wasn't part of the rich, old boy network. Too bad for the GOP.
