Zero Carbon World

A Zero Carbon World, As Fast As We Can

Target:
To let the world know that the Copenhagen talks in 2009 need to deliver
Sponsored by:

We want as many people as possible to sign before the talks in Copenhagen in December 2009. We must send a message to world leaders that this is the target the whole world wants. Add your name, address and email, AND FORWARD IT ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. Remember, our children's future is at stake.

The Zero Carbon Caravan is a mass movement travelling to Copenhagen without using any fossil fuels. Join us  to call the call for the UN climate negotiations to agree a target of a Zero Carbon World, as fast as we can.

We the undersigned call on world leaders and climate negotiators to recognise that, at Copenhagen in 2009, you have the moment to lead our world into a safe, fair and zero carbon future.

Thank you for taking this opportunity on our behalf, that a zero carbon world is possible.

A zero Carbon world is achievable, if you have the gumption to get on and do it. Ask youself "Why can't I be bothered to make every effort towards a zero carbon world", then answer yourself truthfully. There are always options - it takes great strength of character to choose the right ones.

In 1997 I had the privilige to work as a trainee at Folkecenter for Renewable Energy in Denmark. I experienced there that the technology to meet all of our energy needs, just by direct or indirect solar energy, were readily available. Even at that time. Since then I have been wondering what we are waiting for.

This needs to happen. Above creating fatter pay checks for the small minority within the world. This would bring about equality faster than any other policy!

Crucial desicions need to made by very few for very many. When the waters rise and the remaining earth burns dry or is washed of life, when the oceans turn to acid and the fabric of the Earth' ecology disintergrates the social tensions of unnatural politics will fray. So the call is to the very few, that this is not the time for propping up the stumbling behemoths of the past, but a precient opportunity to turn a fresh gaze to the future and engage with the responsibility that the fate of so many rest with the decisions of so few.

world leaders should realise that the future isn't in their paychecks. billions spent on the garentee that these fools on a powertrip can continue their lifestyles, and "do whats best for the people", when the rules simply do not apply to them. since when was it a party policy not to listen to its people

Let us finally start! It toke already too long time. And let surviving the whole earth be our guide and not some crazy way of (financial) economical thinking like Brundlant did. Nature and environment have also economical values.

It is no longer a matter of scare tactics, exagerating the possible outcomes or amount of tonage that needs to be reduced so that we can take it to the negotiation table. It is up to those in power, who are servants to the people that voted them in, to sacrifce their own politacal futures, if needs be, make a potentialy unpopular decision and save the planet from the people it serves. Do the right thing. Be brave, and go down in history as a hero.

The money being pumped into the world economies to save capitalism from the credit crunch should be used to save the planet. It can create millions of green jobs to give us clean energy , insulate houses, buy free public transport in all urban areas to wean us out of our car congestion. The technology is there, the money is there - the bankers have it! If the politicians can't stand the heat, they should get out of the kitchen!

I urge all of you to please, take this matter seriously. As the father of a 3 year old, I am very concerned about the future of life on this planet, and the impact that climate change is having as a result of carbon emmissions produced by humanity.
