Abandoned Animals Need To Be Saved Swiftly

Fellow animal respecters....

One wonders why living beings are locked up, abandoned, and left this way, while we wait for dithering, taxpayer paid, "animal protectors" (Animal Services), who stall, worrying about law suits to the city, instead of saving animals.

A decent citizen, named Hans, took it upon himself to rescue these poor dogs, from the heat and starvation they were enduring in an abandoned house.  These poor dogs must have been terrified knowing they were left behind like this.
Hans was arrested for his actions, which are actions so many of us would have taken if we were there. He was arrested by the Police, on the say so of Animal Services Officers. They claimed by rescuing the dogs he was obstructing justice by interference with their investigation of the abandoned dogs. They cared more about their policy than the animals involved.

We%u2019ve decided not to just stand around and look on, but to create a petition to gather proof of how many people believe Hans should NOT have been arrested, and that the LA Animal Services should have acted, in what we deem, an appropriate, compassionate manner by rescuing these dogs themselves immediately.

We would like for the authorities to change their policies towards animals being left abandoned, with no food, no water, no care, when such an abusive event is so obvious. This was also reported by a concerned neighbor, who actually went beyond her concerns about repercussions to her family, to report this crime. Many other neighbors expressed their concerns as well.  Especially since the weather was so hot, and there was justifiable concern about them dying of heat stroke, being hungry and thirsty.  According to the neighborhood consensus, caught on camera, this was clearly the majority of feelings of the people involved around the abandoned house.

We urge that in any future similar situation, that actions reflect the well being of the animals.

We are aware of the 24 hour notice rule, but in this case, where the house was obviously vacated, and those dogs were abandoned, there should be exceptions in place to prevent the loss of valuable time to save the animals lives.  We expect every life, independent of their species, to be treated equally and with the greatest concern and compassion. That is their job!

We would like for this man, Hans Peterson, to be freed, if he has not already made bond, to have the charges dropped against him and cleared from his record.  We would have done exactly as he did, give the same circumstances, as any compassionate person would have done.
We would like to thank you for sparing your time to read this and for your attention towards this sensitive issue.
