Like the ocean, our lives have a natural rhythm that politicians should leave alone.

Abolish Daylight Savings Time in the USA

Target:
all who consider Daylight Savings Time a waste of time and money
Daylight Savings Time is supposed to save energy, but studies show that it does not.  It actually results in more energy use in the spring, as workers and students have to get up in the dark.  Having to change clocks back and forth every spring and fall wastes time and causes confusion, and losing an hour in the spring results in tiredness and a lack of alertness.  We, the undersigned, wish to abolish Daylight Savings Time and let individual schools and businesses change their opening times on an as needed basis.

I wouldn't abolish daylight savings time altogether, but change the dates to when we spring ahead and fall back like we did before 2007.

Daylight time is silly. We are always going to work in the dark. Our kids have to wait for the bus in the dark. Shouldn't we be looking out for them!! Also, trying to get a six year old to bed will the sun is still high up in the sky is very hard to do.

It is more natural to wake up with the sun and go to bed when it's dark. Daylight savings time is unatural and should be abolished. It burns more electricity turning on all the lights on in the house just trying to wake everyone up in the morning!

We don't control daylight--change your schedule, not the clock!!

I never found DST to be anything but a pain. It throws off the sleep schedule of my entire household.

In Texas with DST, it is too dark in the cool summer mornings to do anything before work. So instead when we get home in the hot afternoon, we go inside and crank up the AC. How does this save energy? Give us back our normal time.

Abolish DST, it is an old outdated practice, worked well when most of the country were farmers, but it does nothing now.

It makes no sense to have school children standing in the dark awaiting the bus. Human beings are wired to be up with daylight, and we are asking kids and working people to rise 2 hours before natural light arrives in the morning, particularly when DST launches in early March. The health, environmental, and financial consequences of this ill advised policy are arguably negative.

If it were saving something it would be worth it, but it's not. just because we've always done it is no good reason!!!

DST is just a waste of energy! We need to get modern now..it's now the 21 st century is it not!?? I don't think ancient peoples had DST and they did just fine. The Maya were the best timekeeper's in the world! It's time to update!

Daylight Savings Time serves no purpose except requiring more people to use up more over the nation's energy resources.

Yes ban it! The Gregorian calendar, with its extra 5 days (the reason for daylight savings time, unequal days in the month, leap years, etc), has been a burden for society since Pope Gregory instituted it handreds of years ago!

Daylight Savings Time does not save energy. I am in the residential construction business, and it does not get daylight until 7:30 to 8:00 in the morning. We start working at 7:00 a.m. and we have to turn on several lights to see what we are doing. I have not heard one good thing about this time change. We were on the same time for a number of years and then we elected Mitch Daniels and we changed time for some reason.

Thank you for this petition! It is much needed. We can be such idiots in this country - so afraid of change! This needs changing.

I lived overseas for 13 years and I lived in a country that didn't do Daylight Savings Time. I also think it's all for the wrong reasons. Live and Let Live, time to just let nature take it's course. Who are we trying to be or replace?

Think of all the wasted time each spring and fall as our bodies try to figure out what happened to the natural rhythm of light and dark. In the old days, day light savings time meant something. Now, it is merely a bad habit
# 3:

I think thats its a bunch of crap... I rather have it left alone.. all it does is gives you a few hours of extra light at night .. nothing more.. its a bother to go around & change all the clocks thats on everything.. I say leave it alone & let it stay the way it is.. don't know about all that other stuff.. but I think that the time should be left alone & not changed any more
