Tinkerbelle Stands by Her Family

Adoption Dog Stomped to Death by Soldier

Target:
Colonel Manning, Brigade Commander, Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Tx

On March 3rd, 2009, in El Paso, Tx at  Fort Bliss, a soldier adopted 2 dogs from Pet Guardian Angel-an adoption center.   Tinkerbelle was a golden retriever and Wrigley, a mixed breed.  See her standing proudly by her new family in this photo.

Within a few weeks of the adoption, the soldier horrifically stomped, kicked, and beat Tinkerbelle to death.  Stop for one moment and imagine the pain and suffering that Tinkerbell and Wrigley endured as they were brutally attacked. Tinkerbelle was gruesomely murdered, blow-by-blow, kick-by-kick, and beaten to death.  The soldier's wife said he got angry and punished the dog by hitting her with the leash and basically stomping her.  How long and how much pain did Tinkerbelle withstand until she took her last breath?  Wrigley got away, but was kicked so badly that he was taken to a veterinary clinic and had extensive surgery done on his broken up hind leg.

This type of behavior should not be tolerated by somebody whose job it is to protect our country.  The soldier in question should not get away with such inhumane acts nor should the community tolerate such behavior. A slap on the wrist is not punishment enough for the crime.  Silence is acceptance.  By remaining silent we take no steps to prevent such horrific acts from happening again.  By signing this petition, you are helping put an end to this abuse and urging the community to ensure action is taken against the accused.

P.S.  If you want to voice your concerns to Ft Bliss concerning this incident  contact the Army's Public Relations Officer,  Jean Offutt; her email  is Jean.offutt@us.army.mil  She can be reached at 915-568-4505.

Thank you so much.

Thank you so much.

We the  undersigned want to send a clear message to Colonel Manning, Brigade Commander of Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas, that animal abuse cannot be ignored on his post, and that we are hoping he presses criminal charges on the individual who perpetrated this heinous act as follows.

On March 3rd, 2009, in El Paso, Tx at  Fort Bliss, a soldier adopted 2 dogs from Pet Guardian Angels, a non-profit for animals.  They were one golden retriever,  Tinkerbelle and Wrigley, a mixed breed.  Who knew what tragedy destiny lay in wait for them?  Tinkerbelle and Wrigley finally had a home and a family they could love and trust.   THe photo on the petition shows Tinkerbelle proudly sitting by her family, head held high.

We thank you for that.

P.S.  If you want to voice your concerns to Ft Bliss concerning this incident  contact the Army's Public Relations Officer,  Jean Offutt; her email  is Jean.offutt@us.army.mil  She can be reached at 915-568-4505.

This is the most appauling disgraceful display of cowardess and inhumane behavior that I have ever had the sad misfortune to have read. And you must see that this person should not be allowed to roam around free. Not to mention the safety of that little baby. Or shall he be allowed to contaminate this little one and make another monster like himself? Please take the necessary steps to insure the safe and sane atmosphere that the baby needs and don't let these poor victims pain and suffering go without justice. They did not deserve that, but he does.

Hard to believe he wasnt already court martialed, lets someone bash him in the head with a mallet and see how he likes the person only getting a slap on the wrist.

This man has a recent history of abuse towards dogs. Since Jan. 2009 he and his wife have adopted 6 puppies. Now 3 of the puppies are dead and the other 3 are injured and traumatized. How many more innocent puppies must suffer or die to get your full attention and prosecute this man to the fullest extent for the heinous crimes he has commited. What will prevent him from moving on to another city or town and continuing the muder of innocent animals? Passing the buck is not acceptable!

This man is a poor excuse to represent our military...now we need to protect his child, could they be next? Please give him the maximum penalty. My husband is a disabled Veteran of the Iraq War...he too came home with his own troubles....he turned to the love our dogs to comfort him. Post Traumatic Distress in no excuse...it's just that an excuse! This man does not deserve to be called a soldier of the United States, I am deeply ashamed of him.

This is very bad. I am a lover of all dogs but I have 2 Goldens that are the love of my life. If he did this to dogs, he will eventually do it to humans. He has a bad temper and needs help to get control of it. I hate reading about these innocent animals in these situations and cannot defend themselves.

This is so sad. It breaks my heart to hear of such abuse & murder. I'm so angry that people get away with things like this with a slap on the wrist. This guy obviously needs help with his rage issues. These are God's creatures that he agreed to adopt & give a loving home. These dogs suffered because some asshole couldn't control himself. Please do whatever you can to make sure he's punished to the fullest extent. We need tougher laws against animal abuse/neglect.

Do to him what he did to Tinkerbelle. Let him see if he likes it. Use th excuse that we are traumatized by what he did. Is the baby next?

How can you let this bastard in the military? This "thing" does not belong in the military, never mind the world! What the hell was the wife doing while this poor dog was being beaten like that? She deserves to go to jail just like he does! What could this poor animal possibly have done to warrant that abuse?

What a disgusting thing to do to a poor animal. There is absolutely no excuse for treating a dog this way- and how shameful for a solder to have done this- someone charged with protecting and serving. Terrible! God rest that poor dog's soul. Please prosecute this revolting person to the fullest extent the law allows.

He should never be allowed to own any animals. Someone who would do that to an animal could eventually turn that anger on a person. He needs serious help.

None of god's creatures should have to endure such a cruel and inhumane death. A crime such as this should not be tolerated. Prosecute to the full extent of the law. Throw the creep out of the military. I myself don't want someone like that representing our country.

Very disturbing!! There is a proven link between animal abuse and human abuse. If this goes unpunished, it will only escalate. Please make sure that this monster pays for his crime with maximum jail time and fines. He must undergo psychological evaluation and must be banned from owning any animals in the future.

I fear for this man's wife and kids, and I mourn the loss of Tinkerbelle. I hope this man gets the help he needs, but he should also be punished for what he did. Anything less promotes the idea that animals are property and can be hurt or destroyed by those who "own" them. Animals are living, sentient beings, who deserve love and humane treatment.

there are people in prison who have committed lesser crimes. is this what this so called man is teaching his kids? at the very least he should be considered a risk to his family and people in his community. Who"s next? his wife-child-someone who gets in his way in a parking lot?obviously he can't control his rage. that is what jails were built for- he is a threat to society. he needs to be punished.

First, I'am apalled that his soldier represents my country. He doesn't deserve to wear the uniform as far as I'm concerned. Colonel Manning, this man should be prosecuted for the murder of one and abuse of another animal. Anger and stress are no excuse for beating an animal to death ,would he do this to his wife? Maybe not now but the question is when? This man is sick and needs to be punished and counseling. If this man has mental problems why is he not getting help? I pray for his wife and child that they don't end up dead.

I ask you to punish the soldier who stomped to death an innocent dog that he adopted from Pet Guardian- an adoption center there in El Paso, Texas. Tinkerbelle was a golden retriever. This took place on March 3rd,2009 at Fort Bliss. Throw this man out of the military! All of my family are military. That man is a disgrace to his family and to his country. No slap on the wrist for him. Do your duty, Colonel Manning.

I have four dogs of my own and I cherish them! Even after having my 2 babies I treat my dogs the same as always because they are part of my family. I don't understand how animal cruelty is not punishable the same way that murdering a human is if they have the same feelings that we have.

I have been an owner of several dogs in my life, and they are part of my family. Anyone who would take out their anger and frustration on an innocent animal should be punished. Animals have rights too, they are living creatures, and this person should not go without severe punishment. He needs to know what he did was completely wrong.
# 321:

# 320:

no animal should suffer, but there is got to be a law about adopting animals and taking good care of them meaning all those animals without a home should be picked up and taken to an adoption agency for example monies or grants that are out there should be funded to make a dept were the monies goes to help not only the one animal sitting but the animal itself.

I can't understand why Zimmerman has not had to face charges or pay one heck of a lot to the shelter for the horrible pain and killing of these two ADOPTED pets. Can't you just imagine.....a little girl is adopted by a family that everyone thinks is wonderful. The soldier, soon after the adoption (and the little girl feeling save and loved)is beat too death because this soldier lost his temper AND then mamed her little brother. This is a great possibility and reality with a person like Zimmerman. THEN, maybe you would prosecute him to the fullest as he deserves. Those pups didn't get a chance, I don't see why he should have one.

The additional fact that Wrigley was allowed to suffer for two days, as verified by Dr. Gibson at Eastwood Animal clinic, before being treated makes this a drawn out act of cruelty. Both Zimmermans should be charged with failure to assist.

This is a horrific act of cruelty the Soldier responsible for this should be able to restrain himself and have control over his temper especially with the job he has, you cannot go around killing innocent things this man should be sentenced for taking an innocent life, if he had beaten his wife or another person to death then he would be charged for murder and face a serious crime why should he not do the same for killing an animal, who are far more innocent than most people, he should not get away with this and if he does then god help us all if they have soldiers like that, these soldiers should have a good nature to the right things this man is obviously evil and cruel who is only in the army to kill. He needs discipline

I would hope to bring attention, through this letter, that horrific acts like this are becoming known not only within Texas or the US but elsewhere in the world. I live in Spain. Soldiers, generally, have a general image of restrained brutality, since everyone knows they are hired weapons, whose ultimately business it is to commit acts of violence, but in a good cause such as defence of the country. If they use their physical power to brutalise and murder those around them who rely on them and trust them, from family members to pet animals, it will not be possible to retain much confidence in the institutions that employ them, let alone the individual concerned. We should therefor not think that because Tinkerbelle was just a dog, that it doesn't matter. It is precisely because Tinkerbelle was "just a dog" that it matters even more. Because the level of civilisation of a society is ultimately judgeable by the seriousness it takes crimes committed among its weakest and most dependent members. Animals and children top the list, followed by women. Every time I read a story like this, I feel ashamed to call myself a man.

Frank Zimmerman and his wife should both be working on chain gangs for the rest of their miserable lives as far as I am concerned. Imagine the agony and sheer horror poor Tinkerbell suffered before she died from being stomped on and the pain Wrigley suffered with his broken leg and who knows what other injuries. As a country we have to get tougher on animal abusers and killers. This has got to stop.
