Photo from photo journal on my venture threw the stinky agoraphobia. I felt this one really captured the entrapment.

Agoraphobia

Target:
Rights for people who can not leave their homes to get help
Sponsored by:
Agoraphobia is a condition where the sufferer becomes anxious in environments that are unfamiliar or where he or she perceives that they have little control. Triggers for this anxiety may include wide open spaces, crowds, or traveling (even short distances). This anxiety is often compounded by a fear of social embarrassment, as the agoraphobic fears the onset of a panic attack and appearing distraught in public. Some people may have it and be able to function in society but many are home bound. Agoraphobia by definition however is fear of open spaces.
Being an agoraphobic myself...I have searched for help for over a year. However being agoraphobic and homebound can really kill a hope in a person so lucky for me my drive has kept me afloat. I have called hundreds of numbers with no success. I have even been denied health care because I couldn't prove that I was housebound which get this they wanted me to walk blocks and blocks from my home by my lonesome, which for most is not a big deal but for me is. At the beginning of being ill I had read that agoraphobia had a high suicide rate I couldnt understand it until then when denied health care. Even till now the hopelessness I and other agoraphobics feel is undescribable. I wish for one thing for I and others in this situation, which is to be treated fairly. Agoraphobia should be considered a severe mental disability and it is ignorantly shunned. There just aren't enough resources out there. Could you imagine not being able to look at the stars, or going out with friends/loved ones, or even go for a walk? For myself and many others this is a reality

Please help me spread awareness and maybe just maybe end this horrid crisis.
