Allow dogs and cats to travel on public transit

Allow dogs and cats to travel on public transit

Target:
American Public Transit Association
Sponsored by:
Some countries allow people to take dogs or cats on board a public bus or tram.  And it would be neat if this country could also allow people do to the same.  That way, dog and cat owners wouldn't have to worry about spending money on gasoline just to drive to the vet.  If a dog is well trained not to bother people, the transit systems should allow customers to take dogs with them.  Cats may have to travel in cages or pet caddies.

We need to change the laws here to allow people who have well behaved pets such as dogs and cats to travel on board public transit to events such as the vet or to a "Bark-n-the-park".

Dogs & cats should certainly be able to travel on public transportation with their owners. Pets are family members, too -- so why deny them the right to travel with their families?

Pets are family members and should be afforded the right to transportation with their families. I would even go along with muzzling (though unnecessary with my dog) just to make it happen and make non-animal passengers feel more comfortable. In cases of trains and buses, specific cars or schedules could be designated as pet-friendly. Let's go for it!

Some cities do allow dogs on the bus like San Francisco, Seattle, and Boston. There are others that only allow small dogs in small carriers only. I am trying to get information on how to persuade my local bus company to allow pets. Any information you can give me will help tremendously. Thanks.

I am very much in agreement, that dogs should be able to ride public transportation. Provided they are well behaved. I also think they should be allowed to go in stores and other places of business.

Offer socialisation courses for dogs so that people can take their dogs on public transport.
