With millions starving to death due, in part, to foodstuffs being diverted into fuel for automobiles, it's time to release the billions of barrels of oil being held prisoner in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Add to that the costs of fuel going up due to high taxes and increased use in the developing countries; it no longer makes economic or political sense to sequester the resources. Modern drilling techniques have proven that it is possible to pump oil out of the ground with minimal environmental impact. Freeing America from foreign oil dependence would minimize our need to meddle in other parts of the world as well. Support American Independence

It's time to stop demagoguing this issue over exaggerated fears from environmentalists where the only real impact is that a few caribou will be forced to move a few feet from a site one-sixth the size of dulles international airport, a mere pinpoint within a vast tundra the size of the area of five states- vermont, massachucetts, connecticut, rhode island, and new jersey. Stop playing political football and move forward on this now. Also offshore drilling has proved to be safe and any environmental impact of current drilling platforms on the thriving fisheries in the same areas has proven to be at most negligible, due to advances in technology. Lets move forward and take advantage of our natural resources. Its high time congress to serve the interests of your voting constituents, NOW!

The Portion of ANWR to be drilled is a balmy 70 degrees below zero in summer...several miles away in Canada (where they are drilling) the wildlife has not been negatively impacted by the pipelines...this is NOT the pristine forests that people go on and on about...plants do not even grow here

I agree we need to develop an alternate fuel to power our autos, but by not drilling in ANWR, going after the Colordo shell oil and oil off the shores of Florida and California is another example of the liberal thought process that our government know what is best for us. We American citizens own these oil rich areas and if the majority of Americans decide that drilling is what is good for American then Congress must accept that decisions and move forward with the extraction process. For those members of Congress, who refuses to hear our voice should be kick out on their butts in the next election. Hopefully this petition will make a difference.
