AMERICA AGAINST HORSE SLAUGHTER and EQUINE CRUELTY
We, the undersigned, respectfully ask for your immediate support and cosponsorship of bill H.R.503 / S.727, the Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act 2009, which will protect American horses from being acquired for the purpose of slaughter for human consumption and prohibits their inhumane transport cross country and across our borders to a horrible death on foreign soil.
We also insist that you ask, as we are asking the Speaker of the House and Senate and House Leaders to afford these bills due process and help schedule them to be brought to the floor for consideration. An overwhelming number of House and Senate members support this measure and deserve and should be absolutely granted their right of a vote, and hence, be given an opportunity to vote on our behalf.
As citizens of this country, we need your help in protecting one of America's icons, which are also our companion animals, service and work animals, athletes and family pets. Horses have never been raised or bred for food consumption or for slaughter in the United States.
The horse slaughter industry has stymied commerce in the American live horse industry and has violated our property rights by removing our ability to sell horses as horses, with any assurance that they will not end up on an overcrowded transport truck, destined for a foreign dinner plate.
There is no greater betrayal than this, for an animal who has been a friend, serviced their owners and trusted humans for their care, to have their lives ended prematurely and horribly, only to benefit the big business of foreign slaughter.
This also is a tremendous personal violation for an individual to learn that they have unknowingly relinquished their animal into the slaughter pipeline, or lost their animal through theft for this purpose, and then realize it is our Government which continues to allow this atrocity to prevail.
We insist that this brutality and oppression end immediately!! This is a moral and cruelty issue and we are insisting that you as our legislators, provide the expedited passage of the Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act 2009 into legislation.
As your constituents and a huge majority opposing this atrocity, we are demanding that you exhibit an immediate and positive voice on our behalf, by bringing an end to something that is not supported by the American public and is in complete opposition of our American ideals!!

horses have been a part of our country since its very beginning. All along they have been used for pack animals, riding, driving, therapy tools, war mounts, sports, seeing aids, and companions. And wild horses were the beginning of that. These animals are the most versital things alive; and they're being killed. Do we realy want that? When we have children do we want them to never experience the breathtaking awe of a wild mustang grazing in its homeland? For them not to know what a wild horse is? The land didn't even belong to us in the first place. It belongs to all of God's creatures. What right do we have to deny them freedom? America was based on that principal and here we are stealing it from innnocent animals. What kind of country are we? Hypocrites?
I'd like you to hold the BLM accountable for their crimes against the American public, breaking our trust and acting in total contrast to their intended possitions of protecting our wild horses welfare on Federal land. I'm not interested in paying for cattle grazing pastures for private subsidized beef sales.

This is so inhumane. How can those horse slaughterers live with themselves knowing they are causing these beautiful animals so much pain and misery. Please help these horses and help stop their abuse.
Animal cruelty of any kind has to STOP!
If other countries want to eat the Noble horse let them raise their own! Simple! And the ones in the U.S. beeding too many need to be limited and made to take responsibility for their OWN horses and not cop out by taking them to slaughter or an auction, where it's possiblility they're end up slaughtered. It is NOT humane, or even most cases quick and painless. Don't turn a deaf ear to the American horse's suffering, being stolen {for slaughter re-sale}, or abused because of a clueless owner or greedy dealer.
Horse slaughter is NOT humane euthanasia. It is cruel and inhumane treatment of a great animal.
It is way over time to end the slaughter of our horses. The public wants a ban. Congress wants a ban. It is time. It is coming. Federal laws to end the heinous slaughter of these highly intelligent, sentient animals. It is murder.
Humane euthanasia should be part of responsible ownership. Slaughter is not humane in any way, form or fashion. PERIOD!!!! These wonderful animal's throats are slit while chained up by one hoof and meat cut from their conscious bodies. This is absolutely horrible and in no way humane! There are organizations and funding to help with humane euthanasia and dignity should be given animals whose lives are near the end. Healthy horses are being slaughtered by the thousands weekly, given up, stolen or purchased for the intent to sell their flesh to overseas restaurants. Old, thin, sick or diseased horses are not what are sought after. But often greed procesesses these animals along with all the others. This misconception of "easy disposal" needs to be looked at as extremely, horrific, torturous and extremely fearful and painful murder. Slaughter is for human greed only and supplying cancerous meat for human consumption is despicable.

I have Loved Horses my whole life and I cant stand the fact that they have to go trough this and have their lives come to a sad end.
Please support this cause. If you have been in the west and seen these magnificent creatures you would understand what a travesty it is to betray them in this way. We are all connected in the web of life and these horses are symbolic of our connection to nature.

You are slaughtering one of the most respected and intelligent mammals on this planet so that the french who are directly responsible for tens of thousands American soldiers lives in WW1 for selling useless and totally non-functional machine guns. I Do not want a horse slaughter plant anywhere in the USA! It is very cruel and there are other methods of dealing with unwanted horses.

Tax paying constituents have Demanded there be a Stop to Horse slaughter, Selling / Auctioning Horses for Slaughter and Transporting for Slaughter. Selfishness & Greed continue to create loop holes which allow the slaughter of OUR horese to continue, while tax payers are forced to pay Your exuberant salaries who Ignores Your Constituants. No More. I along with thousands, look forward to Voting you out of office come next election, unless you put a stop to this Horse Slaughtering Issue Once and for All.
I would imagine many people are like me in that they view our wonderful horses as a symbol of freedom. They were never meant to be sold for slaughter and tables of Europe and Japan. What a betrayal to these noble beasts that we ever allowed it to happen. Let's make sure it stops once and for all. No more sending to Mexico and Canada either.

There is NOTHING humane about horse slaughter. It is a cruel, painful act that terrorizes the animals as he/she awaits their turn in line and once they have suffered the captive bolt to the head (which sometimes removes one side of their face, it leads to the next step of having their throat slit and be disemboweled while still alive. Gross but true. Too bad no one wants to hear it!

To find one person in all your 50 states. That's sick enough to eat an animal so graceful. I understand that keeping the population down is important (and note thatits hard for a young horselover to accept that) but if your still going to kill them for meat that you dont even eat the least you could do is make it quick and painless.
