Encourage Travel Guides to Promote Responsible Animal Tourism

The undeniable lure of the animal kingdom holds a popular fascination that captivates tourists across the globe. This has created a lucrative market tailored to suit the curious minds of travelers. Inevitably, many exotic animals are mistreated, exploited, injured and killed through harmful processes used to capture and train these animals for the purposes of entertaining tourists. As travel agencies promote organizations notorious for such behaviors, more and more of them adopt similar business models in which more animals are mistreated to capitalize on money making opportunities.

In order to prevent the spread of such organizations and reverse the adverse effects currently distressing the natural life course of many exotic animals, it is necessary to target companies that currently promote such establishments. Many travel agencies openly advertize and endorse the animal tourism  industry by supporting and promoting businesses that create huge profits from the mistreatment of animals.

Tourist parks that force elephants into subservience are popular in many countries. Unfortunately, this submissiveness is the result of the phajaan training, a process used to crush an elephant%u2019s spirit through an extended period of brutal violence. By obtaining an elephant%u2019s obedience, humans are able to manipulate these creatures to complete unnatural tasks such as performing in shows, creating paintings and partaking in countless trekking adventures. Tourists often unknowingly participate in activities that promote these inhumane tactics due to recommendations from travel guides.

If the demand for such tourist activities decreases, supply will follow. Increased awareness will play a large role in diminishing the mistreatment of many magnificent creatures. In order to aid the exploitation and abuse of thousands of exotic animals travel agencies must advocate for responsible animal tourism rather than promoting businesses that are notorious for their destructive habits.

By signing this petition, you will help to spread awareness regarding animal cruelty in the tourism industry as well as helping to promote organizations that allow tourists to encounter many splendid animals in a natural and humane setting; where they are treated with dignity.
