Anti Pennsylvania Smoking Ban

Anti Pennsylvania Smoking Ban

Target:
Remove the smoking ban in Pennsylvania
Sponsored by:
Business owners should have the right to determine whether they want to allow smoking in their establishment or not.  A non-smoker has the opportunity to select a place to dine which does not have a smoking section, but now smokers have no choice, but to not smoke.  Please sign and make your voice heard on this issue.

Just proves how scared the people are of the government and how afraid they are to fight back.

Currently running a petition for the same thing with almost 1000 signatures (not counting my own). Smoking is a right. So much for equal rights. Government wants money from cigarettes but don't want people smoking -- big conflict of intrest there.

I am a non smoker and I feel that business owners should have the right to choose whether they want their establishment smoking or not. This smoking ban takes away a portion of Americans freedom. What happen to the freedom of choice!

i feel that if people do not want to be around cigarettes that is fine but i am a server in a restaurant and since the ban the employees that work in the front of the job(servers, hostesses, bartenders) are not allowed to even leave the building to smoke. we are citezens that have rights too!!!!!!!!!!

We have become a country of nebby noses. Everyone is worried what the other is doing. I dont ask someone to move when their whiskey breath makes me sick and I pray they dont get behind a wheel to drive. I dont tell someone near me that I hate their stinky perfume that takes my breath away. This is all just plain rude. I am sick of my rights taken away and soon many many other rights will be taken away. I want my right as an American back. We need signatures people and fast. Let the do gooders of the world mind their own business like clean up the litter, recycle , save gas, etc. Lots of stuff to keep your busy body busy.

Let the establishments decide. I'm sure there will be many places which decide to be smoke free, so if you don't like a smoking establishment...don't go there!

I am a fellow smoker. I feel that that if there is a secluded spot in a restaraunt or public area for that matter, which there used to be (the smoking section) then where is the problem. All these uptight non-smoking assholes are worried about their precious lungs being harmed by second hand smoke.. then they have the choice to NOT go to the destination. But for us to be under this smoking dictatorship is rediculous. Fight for the right!

I feel the goverment has no right to tell a business owner he must ban smoking in the building he operates his business from and a building he owns

i am a smoker and i never minded that places such as malls and most resturants around my area did not allow smoking . but for the goverment to take away our rights just to siut other peoples rights is absurd. putting a smoking ban on bars is down right crazy lol it's ok for them to sell achochol that can kill you if you drink to much . but don't dare smoke a cigarette . it's just another way this country is becoming not a free country which our four fathers intended it to be . we are living in the age that goverment is going to control ever aspect of our lives . if we continue to allow the goverment to do these things without voicing what we feel . by the time our childrens children grow up they will have a tax on breathing .

this smoking ban has gone so far that it is imparing my performance at work. i am a cook at the union grill and i now have to go all the way outside, where i can't hear if im needed, instead of right in the hallway behind the kitchen, where im easily reached. i think its wrong to take sides in the smoking conflict. if you dont like my habit you dont have to sit by me!

I am moving to PA on the 1st of Oct. and I believe that we should have the same righs as any nonsmoker. i do not think a state-wide smoking ban is fair for smokers. i believe each individual establishment should be able to choose whether or not they want to allow smoking.

I am someone who despises smoking, and always have, but it is a person's right to smoke if they choose. If you don't like places that allow smoking, go someplace else. It is that simple. This just doesn't make sense. Banning smoking, even in bars? Isn't that what bars are for? You go there after working a long day to have a drink or a cigarette to relax or have fun. I am still in shock so many people support the government while they take away the rights of it's citizens and businesses. Once they start banning things, they aren't going to stop. What are they going to ban next?

As a non-smoker, I still find it absurd to find that business owners are unable to allow designated smoking areas in their businesses. Let's focus more on the failing economy rather than the smoking ban. I feel it should be the business owners right to decide, not the government.

Smokers should have a choice. There are many other concerns in our society other than the impacts of public smoking.

This is definitely descrimination in my view. Banning is the same as prohibition, just a different word. I have issues with the Pennsylvania legislature entertaining groups such as the American Cancer Society, Heart Association, Restaurant Association, etc. with statistical data (we all know how and why statistics are compiled) to impose descriminating laws on a certain group of people of the Commonwealth. Our legislators do not work for these groups, they work for us. If we are going to explore what isn't GOOD for us.....we would end up with litany of complaints from every man woman and child in the state. I have noticed that they haven't banned smokers in any area that needs the smokers money to upkeep their (the state's) revenue return such as a casino. We need to reduce the number of legislators in the state of Pennsylvania.....if they can waste taxpayer dollars engaging groups as listed above, they obviously don't have enough to do, besides, the average cost per citizen of the Commonwealth to pay the legislators is inflated high above the cost per citizen in neighboring states. I have many non-smoking family and friends that also don't think the government has any business imposing laws such as the smoking ban that will affect the businesses profit margin. It should be up to the business that takes all the risk of success or failure. What business wants to turn away any cash paying patrons? The casino's sure don't want to turn away any cash....oh, that's right....they're exempt. Do you see a conflict of interest?

How about worrying about issues that really need addressed like fixing the conditions of our rediculous roads! I Swear those people who come up with these rules just sit around laughing and taking bets on who has the craziest idea this month and see if they can get it passed into law! WTF.

It seems that I will never enjoy my favorite cafe ever again. Smoking was part of my routine of reading the city paper and drinking an iced chai. Now I have to annoy the people who have to inhale my smoke outside that are walking into the joint to sit in the non-smoking area, and all others that walk by me. It affects more people when you have to stand outside on a street that has many passerbys.

It should definitely be the business owner's choice whether they allow smoking in their business or not.

The smoking ban is just more government intrusion into our private lives. If everyone quit smoking tomorrow they would just raise our property taxes to make up for the lost revenue.

I think if an establishment has a smoking section that doesn't affect the non-smoking section at all, than smoking should be permitted. Why not adapt to the "problem" rather than just taking away a person's right to smoke inside a public place?

Choice is essential. Choice of where to do business as well as the choice of businesses as to what market to cater to. If the concern is great enough, the free market will provide a solution, as many private establishments and corporations have already done. Any restriction of freedom is the birth of tyranny.
# 60:

Smoking is not a crime, therefore smokers should not be treated like criminals. Each business should have the right to choose whether they will allow smoking or not, it is not fair to completely ignore the rights of smokers in favor of non-smokers.

The owner should have the choice to have is business smoking or non-smoking. Not the government. It seems the government is taking away our freedom little by little. Wise up America!

hmmm lets see... theyd tried banning alcohol, and it didn't work what makes them think that banning smoking will work... this is insane. I can understand some places, but i enjoy my coffee with a bit of nicotine and would like to continue smoking in my favourite diners... Yup..

You can go buy a pack of cigarettes at any gas station, convenience store, grocery store and many bars. Now you have to go outside to smoke them. I can see banning smoking around children but at a bar?! Give me a break. It's just a cigarette. They act like smoking is a crime. I can't believe how stupid people are. We're letting the government take away our rights. Whether or not you smoke you should be concerned. It's cigarettes today.. but what will they take away next? What about ten years from now?
