APPEALING TERMINATION OF PARENTAL RIGHTS

We believe a parent should be able to appeal termination of parental
rights at any time. Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances that prevent the appeal within the time limit allowed by law. Even my daughter's attorney was unaware of the accelerated appeal involving this type of case. This affects not only the parent but the children as well. People do change and we believe the courts should take this into consideration. They should also make everyone aware that when you file a motion for a new trial it runs out the time you have to file an appeal. When you are dealing with the bond between a parent and a child we just believe you should have a second chance to have your case reexamined
at a later date. We also think it is unfair to terminate all family members
rights as well. What did we do to deserve this? We are merely caught in the middle. How do you explain to a child that Grandma and Grandpa doesn't love them anymore? Or for that matter, how do you tell them that Mom or Dad doesn't love them when sometimes that is absolutely not the way it is. God gave children to us and only God has the right to take them and say you are no longer the parent of this child. Please give parents a chance to reunite with the children they love. Give the children a chance to say what they want. Most of them just want Mommy or Daddy back.
