On its website, Clinique, a company that produces high-end cosmetics and perfumes, states that it does not test its products on animals or ask others to test on its behalf. With the countless number of animals used in toxicity testing today, this is a welcome endeavor. However, Clinique has still not opened its animal testing policy to scrutiny by signing on to the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Program.
Companies who join the Leaping Bunny Program pledge to not test on animals during any stage of product development. The company's ingredient suppliers make the same pledge and the result is a product guaranteed to be 100% free of new animal testing.
Some companies choose not to join the Leaping Bunny Program because they continue to conduct or commission animal testing for their ingredients or formulations, or they wish to reserve the right to test on animals in the future. Other companies simply may not realize the importance of joining the program to demonstrate their commitment against the use of animals in product testing.
Until a company signs a CCIC commitment against animal testing, consumers cannot be sure of its policy on the use of animals. Please urge concerned consumers to contact Clinique and ask the company to join the Leaping Bunny Program.
What You Can Do: Write to the President of Clinique, Lynne Green, and politely encourage her to certify Clinique through the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Program. Tell her that as a compassionate consumer you refuse to buy products that have been tested on animals during any stage of product development and rely on the Leaping Bunny Program to provide the most accurate information on companies animal testing policies.

I have been using clinique products for many years now and just recently realized that you were not a memember of the leaping bunny program. I am completely against cruelty twords animals and would ask that you consider the possiblity of joining such a program since it would open a larger market for your company. I myself am in search of another company that dawns the symbol as I am now much more aware of what is taking place in the skincare/make up industry. I think it is only a matter of time that others open their eyes and see that they too can make a difference.

I have been a faithful user of Clinique products for many years but will stop purchasing them IMMEDIATELY until you have signed with Leaping Bunny. I would think signing with them is an easy thing to do instead of loosing so many clients.

I'm sure that many would like to buy Clinique products, but would like confirmation that they are definitely not tested on animals, before doing so. If Clinique opens itself up to scrutiny and joins this program, this will be a win-win situation for Clinique, for its customers and for animals.

I have mistakenly spent hundreds of dollars on your City Block sun screen and your cream and soap formulated for Rosacea. I also enjoyed your perfume "Happy". However, how can a person be "happy" wearing your products knowing an innocent animal got a needle stuck in his/her eye for my little pleasure! No more thank you! Sign on to the CCIC Leaping Bunny Program! Till then, I am shopping at Whole Foods for my makeup!

Testing on animals is cruel. We don't persecute humans (also an animal) for things more than you do to animals. It is literally inhumane to treat animals in this way. I would rather spend my money on food and treats to rescue lab animals and have wrinkles and zits than spend the money on high-end facial care products.

Please consider stopping any animal testing on your products. I for one have stopped using Clinique because of this practice. There are cruelty free products.
Why are we testing on animals?

We have worked so hard to find animal friendly products to use in our household. As a longtime clinique user I ask you to join this program so I can be sure I am sticking with our families promise to use no products tested on animals. I know your company does not test its products on animals, but can it say the same for the ingerdients contained in those prodcuts?

I am a 19 year faithful user of Clinique products but will not purchase your products henceforth until you are endorsed by Leaping Bunny. Many of my friends and co-workers have the same concerns and will do the same. Please comply. I really do like your products.

I buy Clinique products and especially love the fragrance of Clinique's Aromatics Elixir. Of course, when I think that the fragrance I love has been tested on animals...it doesn't have the same appeal.

I was relieved when I finally found a foundation that was the perfect color and liked the texture of it, too. It wasn't too thick or too runny. It gave me great coverage. I purchased this and around $100-worth of cosmetics from Clinique that day. I'd planned on returning another day soon to purchase more. Then, I read that Clinique does not test on animals, but that they use animal by-products. I am so disappointed and will not purchase Clinique anymore. I am writing to ask Clinique to please 'modernize' their ingredients and become completely animal-free, as I would love to continue to purchase items from the company. I am pleased to know that Clinique does not do animal testing, but so disappointed that it uses animal by-products. Please consider taking it one step further and set an example for other companies by using ingredients that are animal-free. I would love to return to our local store to use your products.
