ASK MRS. OBAMA TELL USA-PLEASE SPAY/NEUTER

ASK MRS. OBAMA TELL USA-PLEASE SPAY/NEUTER

Target:
Mr. & Mrs. Barack Obama
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Barack Obama:

Thank you for adopting a shelter dog-encouraging America to adopt, not shop.  Homeless pets cost local governments MILLIONS a year.  Local spending affects the economy on ALL levels, including federal. The cost of destroying perfectly healthy dogs, cats, puppies and kittens costs about 10% of county budgets-often millions are spent in dog pounds in EACH county, every year, all across America. These costs are escalating because people are dumping their pets on the streets more and more in epidemic numbers. County funds-paying for dog pounds- ALSO pay for *education*. Now the States have their hands out for Federal money to help pay for education.

*Every year* Individual states spend anywhere between $40 million to several HUNDRED MILLION dollars on dog pounds for the disposal of unwanted homeless animals. This is entirely due to irresponsible individuals, failing to spay/neuter their pet.

(1) Many people falsely believe cats can "take care of themselves" so they dump their cat in the woods or abandoned area-it's true!

(2) Many people get free to good home cats as a toy for their child-and just as readily discard them when they "become a problem", ie., go into heat.  Kittens can get pregnant as little as four months old.  They breed like rabbits.

(3) Many men do not spay/neuter their pets because they think it is "de-masculinized" - keep in mind dogs and cats do NOT have sexual hang ups; dogs and cats do not have the option of condoms.

Please ask Mrs. Obama to say a few words to America to spay or neuter their pet.  The ASPCA estimates another million (probably more than that) animals will be ejected to the streets due to the ECONOMY.  Oftentimes not sterilized, they will breed-and become SERIOUS community health threats

-Approximately 300 cats in the USA get rabies reported every year per the CDC (cats alone-known cases only)
http://www.cdc.gov/rabies/epidemiology.html

-Homeless cats can transmit fecal and parasitic diseases to children and other pets
-Though the USA never had bird flu-we are NOT IMMUNE. Cats *can* catch, and transmit bird flu to other cats, birds, mammals-even people. From migratory birds, cats will find sick birds easy prey.
-Two flocks of ducks were found positive for BIRD FLU in CANADA in February 2009
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/09/0902_040902_birdflu.html

Close to 5 million people get bitten by dogs every year, 3/4th of those cases are children. ACCORDING TO THE CDC, an UNNEUTERED DOG is five times more likely to bite - altered dogs curbs aggression.

Dog Bite Insurance Claims on the Rise - Homeowner's Insurance Coverage

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that over 4 million people are bitten by dogs every year in Florida and the rest of the United States. Of these dog bite incidents about 800,000 require medical attention. Since over half of dog bites occur on the owner's property, homeowners and homeowner's insurance carriers need to address or deal with the vast number of claims and lawsuits that result from dog bite incidents.

So sterilized dogs are safer dogs.

All I am asking, instead of going into the details, just ask Mrs. Obama to please make a short statement to spay/neuter their pets-it is good for America's economy and it will NOT cost you a single cent to do this.  People have a moral obligation to safeguard their community and the economy - and spay/neutering is doing just that-it is the *responsible* proper thing to do.

The Obamas decided to get a breeder dog, thus breaking their campaign promise of adopting from a shelter.

http://www.abcnews.go.com/Politics/Weekend/Story?id=7317449&page=2

There is no point sending this to the Obamas when they cannot even get something from the shelters.

This is the usual fare of politicians with all talk and hot air and of course broken promises.

Animals feel pain, fear, joy, sadness, loneliness, probably all the things a human feel, animals feel too.. they just can't tell us.. Animal abuse and mistreatment of animals is horrible. They are aware of everything we do to them and it is shameful that, in the 21st century, people STILL! find it ok, to kill and abuse... We need to take better care of the animals of this planet...

"Animals are now more than ever a test of our character, of mankind's capacity for empathy and for decent, honorable conduct and faithful stewardship. We are called to treat them with kindness, not because they have rights or power or some claim to equality, but in a sense because they don't; because they all stand unequal and powerless before us." Dear President & Mrs. Obama, Is there anything that can be done to make spay/neutering and Rabie shots more affordable for the average family so they can keep their pets and help with over population? Thank you!
