On April 24, 2007 H. Res. 333, Articles of Impeachment Against Dick Cheney, was introduced in Congress. Since then more than a dozen Members of Congress, including Congressman Jim Moran (VA - 8TH district), have signed on as cosponsors of the measure and a recent poll shows that 54% of the American people support impeaching Cheney. Yet our elected leaders refuse to act.
According to long established precedent, the next step should be Judiciary Committee hearings on impeachment. Please sign our petition urging Congressman Goodlatte to support these hearings that are so vital in recovering the health of our nation and safeguarding the integrity of our Constitution.

"I have a choice. I can either stand by and lead my constituents to believe I do not care that the president [and vice-president] apparently no longer believe [they are] bound by any law or code of decency. Or I can act."

We, the undersigned, citizens of Virginia's 6TH Congressional district, fervently believe that the Vice President has failed to uphold his duty to protect and defend the Constitution through manipulation of intelligence concerning, Iraq, Al Qaeda, and Iran, damaging our national security thereby, and therefore urge you to support Judiciary Committee hearings on the Articles of Impeachment against him submitted to Congress nearly three months ago. We further ask that you enter into these hearings in the spirit of bipartisanship, not as a member of a political party, but rather as a patriotic American, as a dedicated Representative of the people of the 6TH district, and as a faithful steward of our particular Constitutional form of government.
We thank you for your careful consideration of our petition.
We signed the "Ask Rep. Bob Goodlatte to Support Cheney Impeachment Hearings" petition!

You have sworn to protect the constitution from all enemies foreign and Domestic.
You know in your heart that the Bush Cheney administration is a obstruction to the constitution and have eroded our rights under the constitution.
There are MANY more who feel as I do and it will show in the next election unless the Republican party infringe upon the voting rights of the people of America once again.
TRUTH and justice will prevail so you better get used to it.
Sincerely, Dean A. Codgen

unbelieveable how many innocent people serve years in prison and bush and cheney living the life of spoiled dictators with no consequences, the war never should have started and one of the most wealthy nations should not have any person homeless and dying because they cant afford to see a doctor. Theyre time has been long overdue.

It's time Cheney is held accountable for his lies and warmongering. He spreads fear among those within earshot to further his goals of continuing wars in the Middle East. The United States is already in over it's head. Invading Iraq based on manipulation of the data and lies is an Impeachable offense. Wiretapping innocent Americans is illegal. Waterboarding IS torture. Why was Clinton Impeached over lying and the all the lies the Bush Administration and Cheney have told to get us into a war not an Impeachable offense? Doesn't make much sense to me.

It is imperative that our nation's Constitution be protected as the Founding Fathers intended it. As a member of Congress your constituents are calling upon you, as our elected representative, to heed the voice of the people and reassert the power of the legislative branch to counterebalance the excessive encroachment of the executive branch!
