Australia is not Sorry

We the undersigned wish to send a message to the Federal Government of Australia that the planned Apology to the 'stolen generation' is not supported by the majority of the Australian public for following reasons -

Firstly, Aboriginal people were not 'stolen' from their families simply because they were black. To date, all of the so called 'Stolen Generation' have been found to have been neglected at the time of their removal from their families. The Government has a responsibility to ensure all of Australia's children, regardless of race, are being properly cared for. This problem has been magnified by the recent events at  Aurukun . More and more of these types of cases are coming to light and the responsibility needs to be placed squarely on the families of these abused children not on the Government that was working with the best intentions of the affected children in mind.

Secondly, whether the 'stolen generation' can be proven or not, the Australian public do not feel guilty for actions of a previous generation.

Thirdly, the apology is nothing but a meaningless symbolic gesture that will have no meaningful outcomes. The Federal Governments priorities should be the extension of the previous Governments 'Intervention Plan'. An apology will do nothing to ease the stress that alcohol, child abuse, and pornography are having on these communities, nor will it help to ply these communities away from their dependence on Government welfare.

And finally we feel that any admission of guilt, will inevitably lead to a wave of unjust compensation claims from the so called 'stolen generation' at the expense of tax payers who had nothing to do with any events surrounding the so called 'stolen generation'. Aboriginals have already receive handouts far in excess of any other people in Australia and these billions upon billions of dollars have caused much more harm than good and any further compensation will simply produce the same dire results.
